Is there a way to disable the horn honking when I lock the car? It doesn't honk when I unlock it, I'd love the same when I lock it. I didn't understand the Gen II Prius discussion on it and I can't find info anywhere else. Thanks!
The horn shouldn't be honking for the Lock/unlocking for the Prius v. It should 'beep'. At least, on the Prius v I have does not honk and it is the stock sks.
No idea, since again, mine, out of the dealership was beeping, not honking for the alarm... So no idea why yours is using the car horn.
If it is similar to the regular Gen3 (which I believe to be the case,) then yes, you can lower the volume, or mute it completely using Techstream. I did it on mine...
Winnipegger I'm not certain this is all available in Canada but here is what can be changed here in the US. It requires the dealer or a custom tool to adjust these as far as I know. You may have a different list in your owner's manual. W http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om/OM47674U/pdf/sec_06-02.pdf
It appears to be a scan tool from Toyota. This software (or other device you will see mentioned such as ELM or scanguage) interfaces with the car's computer to change the items possible. Personally I'd ask the dealer to do it this close to purchase. I had the back up beep being disabled as a condition of sale but had to tell them how. (sad) W
My Dodge used to do that but it was easy to change using a combination of the remote and the ignition key. I put up with it for one day before looking for a way to change the behavior. It was in the manual.
