perhaps I'm wrong but is there a storage area in the lid of the armrest? If feels extremely thick. my chrysler had a small one for a wallet or deck of cards or something in the lid and then the bigger one under it like the prius has. Am I missing something?
no I know how to open the console. That is where I found the USB plug. but is there another storage area under the big thick lid of the console?
not sure if the 2012 is different but in 10-11, u slide open the center console all the way in & than u can lift up the top to reveal a coin tray.
That shallow little pan that I want to throw out, is supposed to be a coin tray? Well how inconveniently located can it possibly be, it would be more useful if it were in the back center arm rest. This way you could actually have a passenger put money in the toll, instead of you breaking your neck to look down and backwards in your console to get 75 cents out.
You have a coin tray? I think that's where I put my phone when plugged in to the USB. Posted from my iPhone via the Tapatalk app.
Did Toyota ever officially call it "coin tray?" It doesn't work too well as a coin tray as all the coins will spill over if you lift it, but it's useful for accessing the most frequently accessed stuff so you don't go digging it out of the center console every time. I keep my sticks of gum there. The good news is it'll fit the 2012 so you can always order the part.
It's no longer standard on the 2012, but you can order the part and it'll fit just like in the 2010/11.
does the coin try go into the big console where the USB port is or in the roof of the console where I suspect there is a compartment?
The big console. - Bill - 2010 Toyota Prius V w/ATP (8/10 build) - Barcelona Red w/Dark Gray Leather iPad ?
Just seems like a big waste of space in the armrest. Will just have to get a small coin bag for parking meters in Cape May NJ on our next trip out there.
Sorry for the confusion guys. Don't know why but found out they don't have the storage tray that was in the 2010-11. Also, I use it as a coin tray because I'm always in need of a place to put & have access to coins & to me it is the best place for it. At the same rate, I understand why most wouldn't like to put coins there as it pretty much slides down when u accidently lift it. Believe me, I have made this mistake many times myself but I think I have finally mastered the technique to a science.
It wasn't a coin tray, it's for an iPod or other digital audio player. I don't remember where I saw the picture, but somewhere in official Toyota literature they depict an iPod in there.
