Can you use the head unit to change tracks? Left and right side of the screen works as Previous and Next.

Volume for BT is not right. 25 for me is very loud. I have iPhone4 (Verizon) and also had AT&T version prior. Both versions works with 6960.

Have you upgraded yours to the latest firmware? There are two firmware (3 if you have Nav) to upgrade. Head unit firmware and bluetooth firmware.

I have not updated the firmware, I will try that today. Regarding the iPhone I will try my buddys 3GS to see if it is the iPhone issue or something else.

Updated all the firmwares but still audio is low for bluetooth...everything else works fine...anyways, I also got iPhone 3GS to work with the unit for some reason iPhone 4 was not working for me...now it plays videos, songs and stream anything from youtube....

I upgraded to iOS 5 on my iPhone 4. The good news is that, I can now change tracks on Pandora using the steering wheel buttons. Not sure if it is due to a change in Pandora or iOS.

The bad news is, while listening to Pandora and a phone call come in, I can hear the person on the phone and iPod music together.

It turned out to be Pandora app issue. They fixed it with the newer version. Pandora song title is now displaying in the iPod screen and the bottom of the Nav screen. Sweet!

I am getting ready to do this in mine with a Pioneer Avic-Z2. My question is with the harness plug that comes with the Scosche installation bracket. Is it necessary, and if so, where does it get connected to? It says it's required for the A/C to work.

    Thanks in advance.

Yup, you need it for the A/C to work.

When you remove the stock head unit, you'll have 3 white plugs hanging (plus the radio antenna) from the harness. You plug it into one of them. Don't worry, only one of them will fit as they are different sizes.

There are 3 wires (white, black & brown) as well as 2 RCA plugs, what do these wires go to?

    Thanks.

See the picture in the PDF in the first post. I had them connected to SWI-JACK per their instruction using the included 560 ohm resister. The 2 RCA plugs are hook up the head unit to the stock Aux input (inside the center console). I didn't use it since DNX6960 has the Aux plug in the front.

Got it, i didn't see the pdf before.

Also, and this may sound like a stupid question, but....How do you get the stock radio out. I've replaced a dozen car stereos, but I can't see how to get the trim piece off.

I've never had to remove so much dash to remove a stereo, but it's done, and I love it.

What head unit is this? The OPs has buttons to the left, yours does not.

Looks like a Pioneer 7" screen unit. My unit has 6.1" screen.

I'm about to order the DNX6990HD version and just want to make sure that your excellent instructions would work with that unit. I've read through the manual and it looks to be just an incremental improvement, but haven't seen any remarks about it on the site. Thanks for any comments.

Richard, it should be the same. It is the same double DIN unit. The wires coming out from the back should be the same as mine. They are color coded so you'll just have to match the colors.

I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on this yet - so I apologize if it has been covered but will a double din fit in a 2004? and if so is there anything different or custom that has to be done to get it to work?

Yes, double DIN would fit in 2004. It is the same process as my 2006.
