Happily, our 2006 Prius "package 8" arrives the last week of this month (allegedly). We're not taking delivery until January 2, for obvious tax reasons. My question: the Toyota website indicates that satellite radio won't be available until March 2006, but that it's a dealer-installed option. Will I be able to get the satellite radio installed in my car in March, or will there be a difference in the Prius between now and then that would prevent me from getting it? (also, anyone in the Western PA region want to buy a 2002 Mazda Miata?)
Also, any word on whether Sirius will be available as an alternative to XM? My wife is dying for Stern.
I spoke with my dealer (S. Cal.) and he told me that he can ONLY have Sirius installed. I'm hoping that my 06 arrives this week. He said he would send it to the radio shop to have the satellite radio installed. More details as I get them
Do a search. Several people have successfully installed the Sirius kit for a Solara, if I recall: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=11724&hl=sirius
I recall seeing the same thing, but I'm wondering if the new MFD in the 2006 Prius will still be compatible? Also, I'm hoping that the satellite radio that comes out in March for the Prius will utilize the Prius's existing antenna, instead of having to run a loose wire up and out of the hatchback for yet another antenna. I have no interest in loose-wire antenna installations. Anyone know anything about how the antenna will be installed?
