I love my prius 3 but I was a little disappointed at night I thought the blue gear shift would light up I didnt know there would just be a beam coming down to shine on it its kinda strange they didnt just put a light inside the blue knob.
I would just like to see it, the light is really dim I adjusted it but still dim I dont want it lit up like a Christmas tree just a little brighter.
No? Then what about the illuminated Door sills? They look very sharp on the Prius, I think that a small blue glow from the shifter would have looked sharp too
Some folks have put in some radioactive, glowing powder. This winter I plan to try a mod to get an LED in there. Should be too hard, just need to find a really flat LED.
The illuminated door sills are not that bright, nor are the ones that come standard on Lexus. Make them brighter and they'll look tacky. Same with the gear shift. It already has a small blue glow and it's subtle enough as is. Make it any brighter and it'll look tacky, IMO.
I find the ceiling light very nice because it lights up the surroundings just enough, whereas a lighted shifter would not.
I'd like to dim mine down. There's no adjustment for it as far as I can tell. It doesn't dim with the dimmer controls. I think it washes out too much of the dash area, rendering the lighting behind the various buttons useless. I'd like to either dim it, or tighten the beam up so only the knob is lit. Unfortunately, the "gear shift" has a solid shaft, so you can't put a bulb inside it. Look in the mods forum -- some have tried glow-in-the-dark powder inside the knob with interesting results.
Easy to dim, just fix a filter over the light to dim or block it. The dongle spot light is perfect in my car. Does a great job of softly lighting it up enough to see.
on a 2012 Prius 3 I Expected Blue Gear Shifter to Have a Build in Blue LED which it does Not. My question is are there ANY way that Can be Enabled Or Modified to Illuminate? I was Considering Buying the Lighted Entry Door Moulding and Illuminating the Gear Shifter. I also noticed there is a Sport Model Edition of the Prius that I would also think would come as a package already set up like this if Not Toyota Should think about doing This if nothing else make it part of the Sport Edition. I'm willing to pay someone to Mod my gear shifter to Illuminate. Thanks Guys
Lighted Gear Shifter........... Here's food for Thought Why Couldn't Toyota for Example Make the Gear Shifter Illuminate perhaps as part of the Blue Tooth so when Blue Tooth If Activated in Said Vehicle the Shifter would Also Illuminate a Small Blue LED something to think about Toyota....
