If you accidentally press the wrong button while (for example) you are driving forward, it'll just go into neutral. It won't slam the transmission into reverse while you're doing 80 down the interstate.

    From Stage 10 site:

All of the factory safety features are unaffected and 100% operational.

If the driver tries changing from P to another mode without stepping on the brakes, the vehicle will stay in P.

If the driver tries to select B while in P or N, the vehicle will stay in P or N.

If the driver presses R while moving forward, the vehicle will stay in N.

If the driver presses D while moving backwards, the vehicle will stay in N.

If the driver presses B while in R, the vehicle will stay in N.

Ok Guys, Let's try this one more time......

The scenario is -- What happens if two or more of the buttons are pressed at the same time????

The buttons are relatively far apart but ya, what does happen when somebody else (not the owner, because s/he knows better) in the car decided to push 2 buttons at the same time? With the oem shifter it is impossible to activate 2 functions at the same time but with this setup it could.

I'm sure it's all been thought through prior to releasing it to the masses. But it'll prob either do NOTHING or do the neutral thing.

I don't know about that because it says on the website that "The final production model will have the bottom logo imprinted just like on this prototype Left Hand Drive unit with carbon fiber like casing."

Maybe there should be a large placard on the dashboard with the following warning "Do Not Allow Children (or Animals) or Others That Are Logically Challenged to Occupy Either Front Seat."

That reminds me of a true story -- About a dozen years ago, a friend of mine was on final approach and his young son was sitting in the right seat. His son decided that he wanted to fly the plane and abruptly grabbed the yoke tried to pull back. Fortunately my friend had a firm grasp on his yoke at the time....

I would imagine if you pressed two at once, only one gets selected, you just don't know which one. But that shouldn't matter as it should now behave like a stock shifter. It would be nice if the manufacturer detailed that specifically.

If I forget to check these forums, someone please PM me when Stage 10's goes on sale!

This is strictly a software issue (pushing 2 buttons at the same time). Base on Stage10's literature, their e-shifter is not intrusive to Toyota's OEM algorithmic logic. However, with the push button approach you have the possibly that 2 buttons that could be activated simultaneously. The Tom's e-shifter has been around, owners running that setup know what happens when you push 2 buttons at the same time, don't they? Chime in please.

When you press two buttons at the same time, nothing happens, it beeps and you have to press only one button. I just went to the car to try it.

Little kids and stupid/irresponsible adults might think it's fun to push 2 buttons at the same time when the car is in motion. It's nice to know how the logic works before we buy.

    An outside opinion.

I like the button shifter better than the "dongle" thing. The weird dongle thing just looks like a withered shift knob.

    I agree with you 100%........

I just wanted to be sure that this option could not damage the drive train. (Having been in high-tech for years, I sometimes question quality assurance practices of not only the original equipment manufacture, but also the secondary market. I've seen numerous times where a company in their rush to get a product to market will overlook reasonable QA practices.)

    Thanks,

    Keith

The silver version looks OEM, the carbon fiber version is badass!

I'd order carbon fiber today if it was available...
