After months of hunting around, credit check after credit check for the best apr, "playing games" with dealers, and serious budgeting with the wife, I finally bagged a 2012 Prius II in the Gray/Gray option!:D:rockon::cool:

We have an upside-down loan on a 2011 sentra (roughly $4,000). So because of that, it was very difficult and frustrating to find a deal that felt comfortable to us. We finally found a deal that was right. Even though I'm paying more than I should for a II model, I'm glad that I'm rid of the nissan, and finally in a car I can be happy with!

Sweet. Enjoy the new ride and read that owner's manual when you get a chance.

Thanks, I will! Just parked her in the garage. Coming from a Sentra, the Prius' overall design seems so much more refined. The interior is pretty loaded and well thought out for a base model. Very impressed!

    Welcome to the club!

Like you I had to make some changes and create a serious budget. I know it was not a sound financial decision and my GF reminds me of this every day but I am happy. I love the car and though it sounds silly, it brings me a bit closer to the PriusChat community of which I am so fond of.

The last time I sold a J-code hybrid, I was right-side up (2007 Camry Hybrid with 65K miles sold in 2009 for $3K more than the balance on the note). I think you will find that the longer you keep the car, all things being equal, the better your financial picture will be. Chances are that you will own a car that is worth more than your note, even with the roll-over balance. Also, did you consider fuel and maintenance savings? If so, let us know how that is working out.

    Congrats and enjoy!

Congrats on your new Prius, I couldn't really justify buying our's either, but we are totally glad that we did make the purchase. I hope you enjoy it for several years to come. It always make me feel good to read posts from people who own Prius cars that go back to 2002 or so, they must like them a lot to keep them that long.

Thanks everyone! I have considered gas savings, but honestly, I've grown to love the design of this car more than the fuel efficiency (it's crazy, I know!). If there was a non-hybrid version, the 4 dr lift back with all the tech goodies still make it a cool car. I guess I'm just that much in love with it.

A wise Honda dealer once told me (while trying to sell me an Insight), "If you don't love the car, you will always devalue it no matter how good of a deal you get for it." I guess it goes the other way too. Even though I owe $4k more than I should, I'm still happy in the end because I'm driving a car that I love.

I'm in more debt yet feel more liberated :)

Yes , I am now a proud owner of 2012 Prius in Blizzard Pear color. I caved in - I used to drive a Jeep Liberty ('03) that was getting 15-16 mpg. I commute close to 50 miles (not including side trips) everyday & just got tired of filling up the Jeep every 4-5 days ($70). Anyway, to make a long story short, I bought a Prius last month & loving it so far. Since acquired last month, I have done the following:
Windows tinted, Eibach springs, 18" wheels/tires, side door mouldings, lower door mouldings. Next will be Clazzio seat covers - undecided if I should go with leather or PVC, any suggestions?

I did 3.1% 72 mo with Toyota just to be on the safe side. Because of my negative equity, I passed on a 2.59% 60 mo with Capital One.

Later on, I'm probably gonna refi a lower apr whenever it's comfortable.
