    Filter wrench for oil change
I'm having trouble finding the filter wrench at local Auto zone store. The article in this forum calls for 65mm wrench. In the store they don't have the size on the wrench, only part numbers. Is any one got the wrench from Auto zone? I need the part number.

I got mine from Pep Boys and they did not have sizes on the package, but they do on the wrench itself. So you might try looking at the wrench instead of the package.

Last week I was at Walmart. They sell the wrench. I was going to post the part # but I can not find it on their site.

I've read other threads here that state 64mm wrench. Which one is it?

why do you need a filter wrench? In my Gen II I just use a giant pliers with rubber grips.

This device supports both 65 and 67 mm. The enter ring is 65mm

I thought I read that the 65/67mm did not have enough clearance to take off the filter.

I've got the 2010 Prius. I tried the 25404 from Autozone and it slipped too much so I took it back. Being a two step I noticed the outer step was preventing the inner step from seating properly to get a tight fit.

Just measure my Honda filter socket, which is a perfect fit on the Prius filter cap: inside face-to-face is about 64.3mm (corner-to-corner is almost 66mm). It has 14 faces.

"I thought the 65/67mm would not work on the Prius???"

It won't work on the Gen III. I had a 65/67 and modified it with a file to work on my 2010.

I found the 65mm wrenches were to big. I bought this one and it works fine.

FWIW, I also bought the Assenmacher oil filter tool. Fits perfectly. You might be able to get a similar tool thru a dealer parts Dept faster but probably at higher cost.

The only other hard-to-find "special service tool" I've found necessary on my Prius is a 23mm socket for the wheel lugnuts. It took several hardware & tool store visits to find one locally.

I always wondered why Toyota, and others, dont just put a nut on the end of the oil filter cap?

Seens like an easy and smart thing to do.

    +1 Assenmacher oil filter tool

One millimeter? Hopefully your cartridge wasn't over-tightened. Be very careful when you get the 64mm variant.
