I would have bought it for $5k and resold it here or on ebay for $6k (probably what the dealer did without auction costs)! I still say the condition of the car is the important factor after 200k. Some parts of the country are already paying $4 a gallon again. Coming soon to a station near you...

My 08 and his 09 is still a nice solid car regardless of the technology advantages. The interior fit and finish is arguably better than the V and still looks brand new on mine.

    Hey,

She could been bought by a smarter dealer out of state. Maybe one day it will show up in a dealer show room in metropolitan downtown area. Manhattan? :)

Hey I miss u guys here, kinda boring over at the V club.

Anyways got a dilema im coming up on my first 10000 oil change, I get 2 complimentary from toyota. Should I buy my own oil and filter ( knowing what im putting in ) or let them change it, not knowing what or if any they put in. Kinda dont like bulk or a no name brand. Thanks Also seeing my warranty is of no use. And also the 20 or 30 bucks is not going to kill me.

Also on a side note was thinking of changing the radio from non factory sirius to factory sirius/ xm , anyone have any info related to this, how much or a direct replacement. Other than that she is good.

The dealer should put in Toyota filter which should be fine. You may choose to bring your own oil. Good luck!

I think u misread my post or I wasn't clear. I change my oil myself, not all oil is the same, Im not sure if they put in mobil or just any kind of bulk synthetic if they even put synthetic in. I was asking if I should do it myself, seeing they recommend 10000 miles before change, or let them do it. I need to from the beginning make sure that my engine gets the right stuff from the beginning seeing I do so many miles. Or maybe I am over reacting if i am i apologize. ( once it starts leaking its down hill from there ).

Call the dealership and ask. They should replace with factory spec parts (they ARE the dealer, afterall), thus you should get synthetic 0-20W and a OEM Toyota filter. Of course, this may not be the case, but call them and ask the simple question. It could save you $60.

Of course you get 2 years or 36,000 miles of oil changes (one full synthetic per 10k) from any Toyota dealer. Also free rotation and checks every 5k. I would let them use their full synthetic at least until the three free changes are done.

My impression is they don't have a factory compatible Sirrus but you could get an add on aux cable kind. I would stay with XM. You can add most of the popular Sirrus only stations to a XM subscription.

I would do the initial oil change earlier, like 2K miles, not 10K miles. But that's just me.

I agree, would do the initial oil change earlier, between 2K and 4K miles. The dealership will do it for you (or mine did with my truck) even if the mileage isn't what they think it should be, and should also put in whatever you like. I go with Mobil 1, but we could go on and on about oil selection! After the initial oil change, I do mine every 5K, synthetic notwithstanding in both my Prius and my Tundra.

Thanks for the info, I changed mine the other day 5 quarts 0w-30 and fram filter. The mobil filter was 19 dollars. Could not find 0w 20 in the 5 gallon at walmart. 5 quarts at 8.79 = 43.95 plus 6 dollars for filter. 5 gallon = 26.00 P.S. I taught I was going to save some money, 2009 prius took 3.5, with 1.5 left over after 3 changes I get one free. However this 2012 wagon takes 4.2 which leaves me with less than a quart, which means I have to buy 4 oil changes to get one free.

I've been doing some experimenting with different types of gases. I found that there was not that much of a difference between 87 and 89 as far as gas mileage, however as far as performance u can definitely tell the difference between 87 and 89.
With that said I decided to use shell 87, the results were good between 47 and 50, however the wind blowing along with the cold makes it flucuate.
Ive tried sunoco 87 and it was basically the same however, there not open at night as the others are. However I tried 89 sunoco with maybe a gallon an a half of shell, and the results were 51 mpg at about 500 miles. I am impressed seeing the wind was blowing. I am on my 2 tank of 89 sunoco to see if i can stay in the 50's. Again a huge difference than my 2009 prius, I am able to drive longer for example after fill up cruise range said 465, I was able to do 465. If i can get 89 at 10 cent more to me I dont mind spending the extra 1 dollar.
    Anyways just sharing info.

How well do you know the parts guys at your local Toyota dealer? One approach is to get them to give you a discount if you buy in bulk. For example, the filter is $5.41 MSRP. See if they will sell you a case of 10 for $42. Also, there are a lot of good things being said about the Toyota branded 0W20 oil. The part number for a 12 qt case is 009201QT0W. MSRP is 93.12, but maybe they will give it to you for $72 -- $6/qt. If you buy 3 cases of oil and a case of filters, that's almost enough for 10 oil changes, with average cost of less than $30. Good luck!

5W20 is a better substitute than 0W30 for fuel economy, at least for your driving pattern.

What are the chances that my Odo will get stuck at 299,999 ?

    Are they 100% or 50-50?

Walmart sells Mobil 1 in a 5 qt container for $22-25. I change mine every 10k after I hit 100k miles (262k now).

Do you change filter at 5K or do you change it every 10K also?

Filter and oil at 10k. I did this at 5k during the first 100k miles so as not to void the warranty. I let the dealer do it, since it's only $23 if you bring your own oil.
Switching from the ultra low viscosity Mobil 1 to the "high mileage" 10-30W seems to reduce oil consumption, with NO drop in mileage. I'm now using a quart of oil about every 4k miles.
