Just saw the new Prius C commercial on TV last night. I must say that it sucks bad. It makes me not want to buy one because the commercial made the car less appealing. All other Prius commercials I've seen so far are pretty good except for this one. I even downloaded the Fabienne Delsol Come Along, Eliza Doolittle Rollerblades and Petra Haden Let Your Love Flow.
I threw up a little. Hey, this must means there will be more to go around for the enthusiasts and might just help Toyota catch up with the Japanese order backlog sooner than anticipated. ;x
Lmao! I showed it to my girlfriend a few minutes ago and she said it looked like a terrible Old Navy commercial too.
Thank You! I saw those tonight and thought it was a horrible ad campaign. Even the ones with Bill Nye are cheesy.
Yeah I watched it on You Tube last night and was HIGHLY disappointed. The Japanese Aqua ones are way better, even with a Blondie song, haha! This one here is just a big fail
I've been really holding back on my wording. "Sucks bad" is total understatement. If I say what I truly feel about the commercial, I'll probably get banned. Someone came up with this commercial. Someone approved this commercial. Both need to be fired.
Wow, that is pretty horrible. Oh well, rather have an awesome car with bad ads than awesome ads with bad car.
obviously this commercial if for none of you... actually.. it's kinda not for anyone on priuschat. most people here are fanatics for prius stuff. the commercials are designed around an odd/spunky appeal. something that makes you say.. huh? and watch the commercial over again. it peaks interest by making the younger crowd ask questions. if you stop after the commercial to think about it... it worked. most people i know think the normal prius commercials are odd and creepy.. or simply lame.. which i agree to an extent. all they were for is people who like the car to say.. hey.. that's my car... fun commercial... but i see it as just that.. for the people who own the car... not everything toyota does is going to be approved by us here on priuschat... we do not always have the final say so as many would like to think we do.
I hate to tell you this, V8... But coming from a new Prius owner... I looked at these commercials and found the need to want to set things on fire... The Prius v commercial wasn't bad. The Prius c commercials... While they weren't aimed for my demographic, they didn't come off as something for the young and I think several people who commented on it being a bad Old Navy Commercial... I have to agree. They don't really inspire young people to buy because it is a Prius, but lame "Oh, my dog is needing accupuncture" (REALLY? REALLY?) or "I'm a terrible sushi maker..." (Uhm... What?) Young people aren't really going to be focused on getting a car like a Prius c for saving money for their dog or being a craptastic sushi maker... While the car itself is not going to be sporty or powerful, they should be focusing on the looks, the tech inside that young people would be using as we seen here with the Prius and Prius v types, not everyone was into the tech and in the older range, but the younger generation will be focusing on the music, the use of their phone, the range of the car and the compact/economical point of the car. Similar to what the Cube, Matrix and Scion small car type commercials tend to appeal. This "Game of Life" approach is too tacky, too campy and doesn't really stress some of the good aspects of the car, just money savings which is kind of a given with the Prius for GAS. The only other thing that the Prius c focus is getting the best MPG at the lower price point and the reliability of the Toyota if they want to hit the pure, young newbie types.
Can't I think the old comercials are lame, and this new one just sdb. That people person prius family was at least creatively bad. Its what a new york ad exec thinks prospective idiots want to see. fire, fire. oh no I'm chanelling how bevis and butt head would react
I look at it somewhat like that. I don't know if it will work on the target demographic though. The message is simple on this one: good gas mileage saves you money so you can spend it on the other things you need and want. Subjectively, of course, I think it's, like, soooo gay.
I actually, like, meant "gay" in, like, the teenage sense of the word but no, it's not exactly competing with for urban cowboys. Actually, since the young, educated target demographic aren't hung up about homosexuality the camp nature of the commercial and the way the car helps the characters might be taken with humor while making the victim (sorry, mature young potential customer) feel superiority over the characters while still getting the message about the gas savings. The characters in the commercial are pretty clearly not meant to be admired or sympathetic. At least to my eyes. But again, I'm not the target.
I think it's awesome! Some nice big views of the Super White C to fill my flat screen and highly annoying enough that hopefully it distracts viewers from catching the high MPG info, thereby not adding any additional demand stress on the pricing/availability ron
Yes Toyota always save money at their commercial. Most of them were under standard. May be they were confident people will buy Toyota no matter what trash commercial they made. No good for their image.
