Cargo space should be very close to that of a regular 2011 or 2012 Prius hatchback, with folding rear seats, etc. Shouldn't be a problem hauling the kid stuff.:p

Yeah, cargo room in the trunk, folding seats etc are the same as a Gen III. Only real difference there is that in a Prius liftback the floor of the cargo area lifts up to reveal hidden space beneath it. That space is taken up by the battery in the PiP. There is a small area for storage but it is not huge. It will hold the 100v charger and some other items, but not much.

Thank you for the info and the pictures. Does sound good. I just got update from my dealer that my PIP is on vessel New Century 2 to arrive at the port of Benicia on 2/22. The car should arrive at dealership a week from then. Lets see how that goes.

So are EPA stickers in the windows as they sit on the ships or will something still need to be affixed when they are unloaded? If the ship landed today do the dealers have stickers to attach or would they need to wait for something to be released?

If they are out there waiting for these ships to dock, shouldn't they be visible on the EPA website or something by now?

    - So Sorry, but when I finally figured out how to find the time and date of the order submitted and the order completed- and I tried to update the spreadsheet with my info, AND

I accidentally changed the date and time of the order completed for a couple of orders- I will send private messages to them to let them know about the accidental change . . .

Someone royally screwed up the "statistics" tab - I think they sorted the whole thing ascending - does google docs have versioning?

Picked up my silver PiP last night at Bob Smith Toyota. Woo hoo! The funniest part? I kid you not... while we were working on the paperwork, someone from a Nissan dealership was doing a LEAF transfer from one dealer to another (about 60 mile drive total) and ran out of juice, so they stopped at the Toyota dealership to recharge. What a PR nightmare for poor Nissan (but maybe a great commercial for Toyota)!

Congratulations on taking delivery of your PiP!!!

I must ask... If a Prius runs out of gas, is that a "PR nightmare for poor" Toyota? Of course not. Same applies to the Leaf. Every vehicle has an intended purpose and range.

This seems to be more of an embarrassment for the Nissan dealer and driver... The Leaf is well able to drive the 60 miles through LA without recharging. Sounds like driver error to me (such as not starting the drive on a full charge). :)

I'm not sure why this string of messages is in this category but I have to comment with OilFreedom's last comment. The difference is that A Prius can fill up at any gas station in a matter of minutes and get roughly 600 miles of range. A Leaf must plug in and wait and wait and wait! THe issue here is the usability or convenience. Maybe they did not have the hours to wait for a complete charge. Once they left with the leaf, they were committed. Had it been a Prius, again, they could have easily used gas and if low on gas, a few minutes at any gas station would have fixed it.

Now, my real question... How do I find out where my car is? The dealer hasn't been able to get much info. All that I know is that, per the toyota website, my Prius was built on 2/26/2012. Where/how do I find the ship that is transporting it to Benicia, CA? My order number was 132 and was confirmed within minutes so based on a first-in-first-out methodology, I should have happliy had it weeks ago but I'm still waiting, with very little information. Any input/help would be greatly appreciated.

Your dealer should be able to pull up the info. My dealer was able to tell me when my Prius was built, when it shipped, the ship it was on, the VIN, and when it was supposed to arrive in port.
