Does anyone know if there are window vent shades available for the Prius? With hard rains, my windows are fogging quickly, and I'm having to keep the defogger running constantly (which makes the ICE run often). One thing that helps (at least in my previous cars) is cracking the window. Yet, the Prius design allows a waterfall into the window and onto the window/mirror controls (and some splashing onto the upper speaker). Vent shades would keep the water out, but keep the air flowing. Anyone found any that work?
Are you looking for something like this? <img src=\'http://sigmaautomotive.com/jdm/prius/ext-windowdeflector.jpg\' border=\'0\' alt=\'user posted image\' /> If so, click on the Sponsors link and then <a href=\'http://sigmaautomotive.com/jdm/prius/prius0405.php\' target=\'_blank\'>Sigma.</a> The Window Deflector is the fourth item down on the left.
However, be sure the model you choose goes all the way down to the door and doesn't just cover the top of the window like the ones I installed. These still allow water to penetrate the vertical opening while covering the horizontal
Thanks, Bill!!! That's exactly what I'm looking for. (Some call 'em vent shades, some call 'em window deflectors.) I had only looked at the Prius Accessory Shop and various auto parts websites. Maybe I should go change my vote for best avatar..... And thanks, MarinJohn, for the info. I'll keep that in mind.
I like the ClimAir version that just snaps in with no tape. (It's under US & Canada Aftermarket heading, second down on left, on the Sigma page.) Anyone actually used these? I was wondering if they really stay in place as advertised in the movie clip.
I got the Toyota ones installed at delivery. They're not perfect, but they help greatly with exactly the problem you describe. If they extended just a bit further forward, they'd keep more water out at higher speeds. Around town, they work just fine. On the highway, I find it necessary to open the passenger window too, to avoid buffeting.
