hey everyone i just wanted to shoot out a quick hello to everyone. my name is james and i live in seattle area. lets chat it up.
Hi.........from the other side of the country.......Baton Rouge, LA. I'm a new Prius owner, too.....'09 SuperWhite package #3, she's almost 2 weeks old. I am amazed at how wonderful she really is. She is so much more than just a hybrid car!!!
OK I am totally new to this kind of thing. I am getting my 2012 Prius 3 on Monday 3/5/12. Kind of freaked out about navigating the gauntlet of the finance guy etc...... I know Toyota has a great product not sure if I need the extended warranty or the paint protection. I drive 70 miles a day to and from work all highway.... salt, random road rocks etc..... should I spring for the paint protections package ??? I really don't want to get ripped off, however I do have some damage on my current car from the random foreign object hitting my front hood......I know the auto dealers are players in the game, just don't want to be a pawn for their monopoly board
You can wait on the extended warranty until your car has 35,999 miles. Some dealers sell the genuine Toyota warranty highly discounted. I was quoted $875 for a 125,000 mile genuine Toyota extended warranty. I don't know what paint protection they're offering, is it a film?
My salesman explained it as a film that is applied to the entire front of the car up to and including the side view mirrors. The Toyota protection only seems to be a narrow piece of film across the front of the hood.
It's basically like the screen protectors for phones and tablets, to provide some scratch resistance.
I have been debating with myself about the extended warranty since I got the car. I have concluded that it was likely a mistake because of the excellent reliability of the vehicle. I have had it for about 2 months and today I finally finished the last tasks that make a car mine. In this case I installed my 2-meter ham radio. I wondered if the electronics in the car would interfere with the radio or vice versa. Absolutely no problems.
Where can I get a 125k extended warranty for $875? The lowest I have been quoted for a 8/125k policy is $1515.
Well I did finalize the deal and picked up my car yesterday, and I was able to stand firm and resist ) their offer of 2100$ for the extended Platinum warranty ( really????) . So far I have driven to work for 2 days and I am so impressed!! I drove home today in a very strong wind storm. Normally in my old reliable Camry I would have been blown all over the highway but tonight I felt really stable and solid . How is that possible? This car is smaller than my 2004 Camry? I know I am in the honeymoon phase of my purchase but OMG I really think this is an awesome car, I can honestly say that I have never thought that with any previous vehicle. I still may purchase the paint protection from a 3rd party in the future because of my commute and the potential for front end road damage, but I am going to wait for the extended warranty until my Toyota factory plan is close to expiring. I think I am becoming a Prius "FREAK"
Well, don't forget, the Prius form is suppose to be a bit more aerodynamic to help reduce drag, so it should go in favor of the Prius against some wind factors.
Ok so I have been on the road for 1000 miles now and still not sure if I need to get the protective film. Love the car, don't want it to get messed up ..... at least not in the first few years. Has anyone put this on their car and is it worth it??????
Depends on the roads you are on... Some may be better than others... Also some people use car 'bras' for the front.
