I really like the rear headrest design of the newer Fit. Not only can they be lowered way down for rear visibility. When they are down that low, they protrude somewhat uncomfortably forward from the seat back, as a gentle but effective reminder to raise them when sitting in the back seat.
I'm not sure why Toyota hasn't been putting it in (cost?? or maybe they did a survey and the owners they surveyed didn't see much value?) Either way, I was excited to see that they finally put it in the new 2012 Camry! Not that I can see but you can easily install that aftermarket or maybe Toyota will offer it as a dealer-installed accessory some time down the road. They all use the same auto-dimming mirror. It just depends on which feature you want with your auto-dimming mirror - just plain, with compass, homelink, OAT or backup camera (or almost any combination of the above). Gentex Auto-dimming Mirrors from MITO Corporation Excellence in Electronics for Auto, Car, Truck, SUV, RV and Boats Gentex contracts Mito to distribute their mirrors.
Does the C tell you ambient outdoor air temperature? I did not see that on any of the combination meter displays?
fwiw, the Prius c Canadian page lists no auto-dimming mirror and given that the manual doesn't have it either, I'm inclined to believe that we won't see it. to the other poster who was asking what i was talking about: an autodimming mirror is an electronic mirror that automatically dims the mirror when someone behind you shines really bright headlights on you. so that you aren't blinded by the reflection. Edit: for an example, see the auto-dimming mirror accessory on the Corolla page: http://www.toyota.com/corolla/accessories.html
From what I've found it looks like it shows up in two ways. First as the bottom line in the Drive Information Screen, and then as part of the Touch Tracer display when adjusting the temperature it also shows the outside temp for reference: ron
My point was that I wanted an authoritative source because none of Toyota"s materials released so far seem to suggest that this feature will come. I don't know how helpful a random third-party site is and where they are getting their info from.
They didn't mention it as either a feature or option in their main press release. My guess is that it won't be available. Just another one of those things to push you up to the liftback.
An auto-dimming mirror isn't too big of a deal since it's a part that you can (reasonably) easily install afterwards. Stuff like SKS is a bit harder (just as an example) so I wouldn't fret too much about the lack of auto-dimming mirrors.
cant wait to get some miles on my car to see what type of MPG I can get. Very excited about my Prius C. First time car buyer + first time prius owner here!
