Hawaii - has anyone seen a Prius C "In the wild" yet on Oahu? So far I've only seen them at Servco - looking pretty. Thought I saw one this afternoon in rush hour traffic town bound near Ft. Shafter. Imagine my disappointment when I got closer and it was a Fiesta. And to the lucky people who managed to snag one already - yes - your C does count. Have you "owners" seen any others roaming the roads?
Not yet only v's, I might try to swing by Servco Auto Leeward to look at one this weekend if I have time after work.
I went by Servco Auto Leeward in Waipahu, HI yesterday (3-3-12) on my way home from work to check out and hopefully drive a Prius c. I accomplished both missions, they only had one car the dealer demonstration vehicle stock number C220485 on the lot. It was a Magnetic Grey Metallic, trim level Three. I got there about a half hour before they closed 5:30 PM HST and my salesman was with other customers so I checked out the MY 12 third generation Priuses and Camry hybrids on the lot while I waited. As soon as Louie finished up with his clients he grabbed the SKS and off we went. We went on about a 4 mile/15 minute loop their standard test drive circuit from the dealership on Farrington Hwy. south towards Pearl City to Ala Ike St. (near LCC) then going back on Kamehameha Hwy. to Farrington Hwy. to the dealership. Louie liked that he could have a low stress test drive and check out the car a little more while I drove. I liked it a lot it was smaller than my car but it was Prius like enough to feel somewhat familiar. I had the radio off and the air set on automatic at 70 degrees F, I went outbound in Normal mode and came back in ECO mode. The car was not that loud and it drove nicely the terrain was relatively flat, it seemed to have adiquite power, but I do drive a Prius and I drove the c like I drive my Gen. 3. The car seemed to me to be laid out well and the displays were clear and bright the multi-colored MID was really nice. The one thing I did not like was the shifter and its placement, I think a Gen. 2 style shifter on the dash would have been better. I tried to keep this kinda short but if anyone has any questions and I can answer them just let me know.
Finally saw a C "in the wild" 03/15/2012, Thurday, 2:30 p.m. Hawaiian ST: Silver, don't know what level. For Honolulu people: Heading makai on Punahou, crossing the freeway and turning left - Kokohead direction on Bingham St passing Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children. From the side the roof line and the tail light housing are very distinctive and cannot be mistaken for another car. All my previous sightings were of Fiestas, Fits and other cars which could be mistaken at a distance by someone with my lousy eyesight.
I actually saw 2 in one day within 2 hours here in Maplewood, NJ. Each time I do a double-take, because from the front it looks much like the normal hatchback, but then you notice that it is shorter and has nice wheels.
1 Prius C left on the Kauai Toyota lot... Moonglow 4. So 2 others besides mine and KKim are potentially on the road somewhere...
so, that would make them a silver and a magnetic gray to add to the road alert... got to keep an eye out for them. :spy: Liz, we need to get together for pics so we can be the first to have a Prius c meet.
it's not often the neighbor islands gets a jump on Oahu. It's good to see it happening with the c. nothing personal... I'm just glad to have the car. been waiting since last year for Toyota to build these and there was no way I was going to miss out on owning one. The car handles reasonably well... much better than a "regular" prius, and maybe with some stickier tires, the car will handle even better, but until we figure out who this car is for (me or the wife), it will stay stock to get a baseline of performance before any changes are made.
Sales guy called - said they have a C1 in Summer Rain - cancellation. I need at least a CII - the split rear seat is a deal breaker and the auto immobilizer probably is too. The other two Cs are spoken for. April seems so far away....next shipment.
I took a spin through Servco Auto Honolulu last week Sunday (3-11) and they had two or three c's stored on the rack system on the mauka side of the lot. They are sharp cars! April will be here soon enough, hang in there. I agree that the 60/40 rear seat is a necessary option. I use mine in my Gen. III all of the time. Posted from my iPhone via the Tapatalk app.
Me too! I have never bought a car without testing it before. I tracked the C since I heard about it (when C stood for Concept) and just knew it would be the car for me. And it is. KDen. Let's get together when I can eat lunch again. After Tuesday.
