I just called a local dealer here in Oklahoma, and they had 3 2006's on the way. They had a Seaside Blue Package #5 with Grey interior that is scheduled for the 22nd available. We decided to nab it, MSRP plus 99.50 Documentation fee. Finally!! He said we can still change the port options, so I cancelled the Package A & protection package. No problem. He said we can still add leather if we want, have to think on that. Merry Christmas it should be!!!
Congratulations !! Are they gonna let you wait unitl Jan to buy it so you can get that $3,100 tax credit?
I didn't ask. Weve been without a second car since September. I did check with my accountant and it won't hurt me much if I buy now. So since I'm walkin, I will take it as soon as I can. Plus it'll be fun drivin it to all the inlaws for Christmas. I was lucky to be able to cancel the extra stuff. I can get the cool all weather mats on e-bay!
Your accountant said "it won't hurt you much" to lose a $3100 CREDIT?!? That comes right off the TOP of your tax bill. Here are the possibilities: a) Your accountant doesn't realize it's a tax CREDIT but thinks it's a DEDUCTION. B) You make so much money you pay the AMT tax and can't use a credit. c) You make so little money you don't pay $3100 in taxes and can't use the credit. Make really, really sure it isn't "a)".
Also, remember that it's not $3,100 that you are losing. It's more like $2,500 since the deduction gives most people $600. For me, coupled with $500 off MSRP + some accessories (hopefully) + a guaranteed HOV sticker (original reason for this purchase) + more gas saved now for like trips to SoCal(old car was SUV using premium fuel) + having a buyer willing to pay Private Party pricing vs dealer trade, I'm comfortable not waiting for the car to come in late Jan/Feb as stated by 3 dealers' waiting lists that I'm on. hope this helps
I called my dealer to ask a couple of questions. First, we wanted to add the port option of leather. No problem, he changed that for me. The leather for the '06 was 1060.00, up from 1049. in 2005 I guess. So MSRP, 99.50 doc fee, and 1060. leather upgrade. This is the best dealer I have ever spoke with. He is the New Car Manager, (Joel Brown at Hudiberg in Oklahoma City) I gave him a 500 Deposit to make the car mine. I asked if I could come by Mon and get a Purchase Agreement that has everything in writing, no problem, he even sent me an e-mail with everything. I asked if the car came in on the 22nd, if I could hold off taking delevery til Jan 2nd. No problem, he knew all about the credit, and even thought it was wise to do so, the car is mine, he will hold it on the lot til I call and say I'm on the way, then he will have it cleaned and ready. No pressure. I can say there are a lot of bad deals out there, but so far I am very pleased with this one. When I called the 1st time, I asked to talk directly with the New Car Manager, not a salesman, maybe that is why. When he told me about the car, changed optons, added leather, we had to wait on his computer to pull it up so he could enter the changes right then, not just a "Yea, we can do that" over the phone. I really feel like I'm being treated right. I'll let you know So my 06 package 5 with leather will be here around Christmas and I will take delevery on the 2nd. That's the way it should be, OUscarb
