On 2010 Prius I can pair my phone for calls and an mp3 player or second phone for music. It works perfectly. Entune only allows one paired device at a time. Why?!? Toyota should make entune open source so we can fix their crap. Apple gets away with closed source solutions because they know what they are doing. I want to upgrade to the latest entune update, but if I have to go to the dealer, I'm tempted to wait until the next meaningful update. This whole approach to in car tech is broken... PG86100 ?
I think a lot of it is marketing to get people into the dealerships. Oh you don't like x,yand z here let me show you a better solution... I agree it is broken. Here lately with Apple I'm questioning their methods too. Right now my iPhone 4s is buggy with battery issues and my MacBook air struggles to connect to wifi after the latest OS update. It's unusual but is shaking my confidence. The iPhone battery problems are 6 months old as are the wifi issues on the MacBooks. W
Maybe I'm missing something but the Entune limitation shouldn't prevent you from doing what you want. You don't need to use Entune if you're connecting for phone and music only. I've connected my phone and iPod at the same times without a problem. I do have tons of complaints about the systems and how it works though. For one, I can't seem to get a reliable bluetooth connection for music no matter what device I'm using. Sometimes it works great but most of the time it skips and stutters and is overall a PITA. The other thing that drives me crazy is how it automatically starts playing music files whenever a connection is first made. Most of the time I want to listen to a book using the audible app on my phone or iPod and I have to manually stop the music app first. It's even worse on my phone because the only audio files are the ringtones so that what it plays. I'm not sure if there's a setting to keep it from autoplaying or if there's something I can do to improve my bluetooth reliability but at this point I think I might just scrap it and go with the AUX connection.
It's the shared Bluetooth connection,which pauses playing on the Bluetooth mp3 player while you call then resumes when done. My 2010 Prius has it as do some of my old Bluetooth jabra car systems I used to use in cars without Bluetooth. It makes for a very nice wireless solution. I'm sure the hardware is capable, they just broke it with bad software. PG86100 ?
This is one of my many complaints also. I make sure the music player is killed on my phone and Audible is open and ready to go. Sometimes it still opens the music player and plays something. I'll then kill the music and get the book playing. Someone calls and when I hang up it goes back to music - not the book. It would be great if Toyota would have non-buggy software.
