Hey I got the Clazzio dark gray for my Prius 2010 The front ones were fairly easy to install and look very nice. However I read from cover to cover each thread regarding how to remove the rear seat and how there are 2 pressure hooks underneath that you press, etc and yet I cannot even find them. I looked for 30 minutes, touched every inch multiple times and no luck. Can you guys give me a real simple explanation of the process, maybe even post a picture or two if you have it, so I can actually really visualize what we are talking about. Thank you!
If the rear seat is like the Gen II, there are two hooks/clips in the front -- one in the middle of the passenger side seat and another in the middle of the driver side seat. You can unhook both hooks by lifting the seat up with your left arm on the left and your right arm on the right (alternatively, the Seat Assembly Instructions say to unhook each hook one at a time). Once you lift the front up you should be able to see and unhook another hook/clip in the center rear. Here are the Gen II Seat Assembly Instructions. Page 15 illustrates and describes how to remove the rear seat cushion: SE%20-%20Seat.pdf
This is correct - you grab, and yank it up *hard*. It will unlatch. You may end up having to get a new plastic latch piece (it's probably 50/50 chance). They're like $4.
Thank you all for help. This Forum is dynamite, no, it's a gold mine! Should've been here before we bought! Hindsight is 20/20.
The only difference with the gen II and III is that there are 2 rear hooks. It does take effort to get the hooks free, but as long as you pull up there should be no damage to the clips. One thing a lot of people are having problems with is getting the front hooks to fasten when putting the seats back. I had the same issue, but today tried again, but this time I tilted the seat backs down about 45% and pulled up on the rear hook and down on the front. The front hook locked in place with little effort. I repeated the process on the other hook and the seat is locked in place. I hope this helps.
Does anyone know that if the Gen II rear seat hooks/clips postion same as Gen III. In the Gen II PDF doc from page 15. It shows two clips in front and one hook in the center rear? Same postion as Gen III? I am going to install Clazzio cover and want to find out where are the clips/hook located. Thanks.
Guys, With the thread here I was able to easily remove the rear seat bottom but I had the same issue getting it snapped back in. I saw that the two front metal bar loops were supposed to snap back into the plastic receptacles and I used a plastic trim removal tool to pop the receptacles out of the metal bracket and then I popped them onto the seat loops with a rubber mallet. (This is with the seat bottom out and upside down). Then the seat snapped right back down no problem. (I was putting Wet Okole's on and they look fantastic) (Gen III 2011) Steve D
2012 Prius REAR SEAT REMOVAL and REINSTALL - HELP! 3-2-2012 Removal- Slide hand under the front of the rear seat approx. 1 foot in from the end. Using both hands, YANK up hard until the side comes up. Do the same for the other side. For best results, use 2 people: one on each side of the front edge of the seat bottom. Reinstalling- One item many people are having problems with is getting the front loop hooks to fasten when reinstalling the rear seat bottom. We had the same issue. Try: Tilt the rear seat backs forward approx 45 degrees so you can get your hand down to the rear loop hook. While facing the rear of the car, pull up on the rear loop hook and kneel down (using much pressure) on the front while gently moving from side to side. After a moment or so, you should hear a click indicating that the seat is installed. Then go to the other side and do the same. If this does not work, check to see if the plastic pins in the plastic receptacles are broken and/or try the below. Or I saw that the two front metal bar loops were supposed to snap back into the plastic receptacles and I used a plastic trim removal tool to pop the receptacles out of the metal bracket and then I popped them onto the seat loops with a rubber mallet. (This is with the seat bottom out and upside down). Then the seat snapped right back down no problem. Note: If replacement receptacles are need, they only cost approx. $5.00 each.
I am going to remove the rear set of mine pretty soon. Just want to be confirm a place on ebay or Amazon for a replacement of the 'plastic clips' just in case. Having trouble finding one though most have commented its just $4-$5. Can someone please tell me how to search ( A part no. ? ) or a link where I can find it. Thanks in advance.
