Hello I am thinking of getting some nice rims for my 2012 Prius. I have no idea of what size I should get. I went to tirerack.com and they list 15, 16 and 17 as available for the Prius. I know they are not 17's, but not sure if 15 or 16. Also what else do I need to know to order the proper ones Thanks
15s standard and 17" optional on the model Five. 5x100 bolt pattern with a 45mm offset on the 15s and 50mm on the 17s.
These are the OEM offsets but you can be more aggressive with aftermarket wheels so that the wheels are not sucked in so much. On a 7" wide wheel I think that a +40mm offset will be perfect & on a 7.5" wide wheel a +45mm offset will work great.
On the GenIII you may be able to get away with a 40mm offset on a larger wheel but on a GenII with a lowering kit it is cutting it very close. My 17s have a 42mm offset and they sometimes rub on the outer part of the fender liner. With a stock height vehicle this wouldn't be a problem but on a dropped car it could be.
How are those not rubbing? My 16x7 +35mm offset seems to stick out a little too far on the front & I rub a little on really large bumps, that's why I'm looking at 17x7 +40mm wheels.
But if you don't lower the car a little, even just the inch from Eibach springs, bigger wheels & lower profile tires just look a little goofy IMO.
Not trying to thread jack, but what does anyone think about the fitment of Kosei K4R 17x7 5x100 50mm offset? They are only 14 lbs! They don't come up on Tire Rack unless you choose something like 97 Subaru Legacy sedan, then of course the recommended tire size is wrong.
Its not really that bad. Its rubbing slightly when i got large bumps on over 50 mph. btw, i lowered with B&G lowering kit. 1.1" @front, 1.3" @back.... All wheels and tires look straight for me. It doesn't stick out at all. I actually wanna add spacer 5-10mm @back to look 100% perfectly straight...
I see a lot of 15" Corolla rims on ebay that are supposed to fit, but they don't seem to mention 2012 models. Is there any difference between the size, offset, etc. on the 2012 from earlier years? I'm in the same boat as the OP. I'd like new rims & want to stay with stock size & reuse my original tires. More pictures would also be appreciated.
It's just 2012 BBS CH-R 18x8 ET38. Tires are 225/40/18ZR... It might look huge on couple pictures because i used fisheye lens on my camera...
Any issues with running 18x8s I have a line on factory nightshade wheels on a stock suspension Prius what size tires are you running? New to the Prius mods have an 18 Avalon but want to do some mods to my company ride a 2012 Prius
