So I was a bit late for work and go fig...we got a flood going on. It is very flat where I live...so it does not take long for water to accumulate. This was the first time my Pri had been in a heavy rain. Well, I threw my mpg thoughts out the window on the interstate and was impressed with the DWS tires. They did not flinch at all even in some standing water. No loss of grip. I was one of the fastest cars on the interstate...comfortably I might add. Big thumbs up to Continental ! Lastly, I was surprised with how clean my car was when I got to work...I am use to my truck throwing water and dirt nearly everywhere. Nice!
Yep, I'm getting real comfortable with my Cont. DWS too & great to know as I've only been able to test mine in light rain & mild wet conditions only.
I use the the Conti DWS on our BMW Z4 and have found them to be very good in the rain and were a huge improvement on the run flats for comfort and tram-lining. The only small hit was they are not quite as sharp on initial turn in but grip well. Have you seen any mileage hits on the Prius??
I tell you what...I think we are getting close. I am tired of it already, but my lawn is kicking nice person right now and not at my water bill´s expense It was much needed!
funny thing is right after we got some rain this morning & had a chance to test out the tires some being conscious of this thread. I have to say, tires were very stable & predictable on wet roads even on semi-hard turns.
We get plenty of rain here in the NW but I hear from plenty of DWS owners that love them as well as the new Yokohama YK580. I would love to know the mpg hit from just the tires too. Does anyone run DWS tires in a narrower or smaller size like a 205/50R17 or 205/55R16?? If so, what type of mpg are you getting?
