Just got a call from my wife that someone side swiped the Prius this morning.... it seems like incident happened while she was at post office to drop off the package. She's going to stop by at the post office to see if there is a security video camera in the parking lot. Based on her description, there is light to deep 3" scratch on left/rear bumper... This is our 2nd incident with our 2011 Prius; we hit a deer in November.
Had that happen to me and Fry's would not share the video camera data with me. I was so mad that id didn't buy anything at Fry's for two or three weeks.
Pretty standard practice it seems. A laptop was stolen from my wife's car while parked at a gym (I know ) and the place refused to say whether the security camera revealed anything but would share with the police if contacted.
Sometimes it can't be avoided but this is one more reason why I always park as far a way as possible. My wife gets so upset w me and I don't understand why? We're going into Walmart to walk around and shop for an hour but she absolutely can not stand it if she has to walk an extra 30 sec to get into the store???
Post office said they don't have a security camera in the parking lot..... I am going to check it out when I get home from work. Maybe I can get a long bumper guard to cover up all scratches...
Just wrap a giant memory foam mattress around the entire car and you'll be completely safe... The More You Know
Sorry for the confusion. I am glad that it's not as bad as how she described on the phone. Picture was taken after I buffed out the area.
This is easy repaired by most body shops. I had a, um, "situation" where one of my vehicles accidentally ran into another of my vehicles. Both plastic bumpers where scratched up much worse than in your photos.Took them to a shop that perfectly matched the color and you can't tell there was ever any damage in the first place.
AZGeek, do you mind telling me how much it cost you to get it repaired? I just placed an order for OEM spray can (perfect color match), which I plan to use to perform repair when weather gets warmer. I have some experience painting my Subaru.
The exact same thing/damage happened to me. I was paid a little more than $600 by the person's insurance company. I kept the money without repairing the damage. You can't even see that it was damaged unless you get really close. This all happened at my office, and luckily, the parking attendant stopped the person from driving off. And if it helps, the repair people said they would take off the bumper cover and send it someplace. It would be completely repainted, not just painted in the damaged area. I plan on filling and spray painting the area when I get the chance (and motivation). Mike
It was less than $500, but that was for two vehicles. I briefly considered painting but realized that I was only going to get close and not enough to completely repair the cosmetic damage. Trust me on this one --- I needed to have all evidence completely eliminated in order to let go of my anger.
+1, I do that too. ppl just don't give a f@ck about other ppl's stuff. Besides, it doesnt take that much more time or energy to walk the extra distance. I saw the title, and that someone did a full on swipe into the prius.
