Suddenly I discovered a loose cable under my engine .... Could someone tell me what kind of cable this is?
I would be more concerned that there is liquid under the engine. Is that just water from recent rainfall, or is that pink engine coolant? That "cable" might be a hose. In any event, it needs immediate attention and if it is a hose, I suggest you have the car towed for service.
It's not orange (high voltage) so that's good. I'm tearing down a car this weekend so I'll keep an eye out for it.
Just had a thought, the engine block heater is the only thing in that area with that much cabling. Is the heater standard in Norway?
Well it is only about 18 inches long , about... can you get under the car and see where it came from? With its small size there are a limited number of places it could have been ripped out, or dropped out of! As Patrick points out, the puddle of fluid looks bad. The size of the hanging line does indeed look like its supposed to carry fluid! If you idle it in the spot it's parked, you should see lights appear on the dash, possibly the RTD! Towing it to the dealer really does seem a prudent option! Good Luck, let us know what happens!
Thanks for all good suggestions... I have a DEFA coupe warmer, and ppl in some Norwegian forum tells me it probably is a cable connected to that. I think the puddle is just water/melted snow. There are no warnings on the dashboard and car runs just fine. No problems.
okay, that explains why it looks different from the block heater available in North America. Interesting!
