The driver was young, the car was new (still had the paper plate) but I gave him a good head start. I quickly made up ground on him and by the end I finished first by a couple of seconds! I proudly proclaimed, "I WON!" while he muttered back something about being distracted by a female. "Lame excuse there buddy" I thought to myself as he quickly got back into his new car. But the numbers tell the tale. Him: 18.3 gals. Me: 10.2 Not even close. :cheer2:
I wasn't going to read this thread; I'm glad my curiosity got the better of me. It still took me a few seconds to catch on
You beat him by a whopping 8.1 gallons! Thats some crazy cash to buy some snacks in the Food Mart behind you.
I've occasionally suffered an evil streak of enjoying leaving 4.xx gallon fillups displayed on the pump. Pull in, fill up, and leave before the adjacent FSPs (fuel sucking pigs) finish pumping. EVs can't flaunt their virtues this way, as they usually fill up in secret.
According to fueleconomy.gov, he'll spend at least $2K more per year in fuel. That's a helluva lot of Slim-Jims and Ho-Ho's!!!
Although it does sound like a joke, it's all true. The sad part was he didn't really get my "I won" comment nor consider the real underlying reason why I won.
Funny He will be back at that pump "racing" some other person before you make your return to the pump as well!!
this being priuschat i'm awaiting a post that mathematically shows all the stats for this venture. figure out how long it takes to pump a gallon. how many minutes your prius has before he starts. how many feet/miles you will be down the road. how far i will be before he catches up. how fast the both of you will be going when he catches up. how far down the road from the gas station you both will be. how much fuel each has consumed. how much tread was worn off the tires. the prices of your speeding tickets based on final speed when he catches up. go!
