I am new to this forum, but not new to the Prius or EVs. I have driven a Prius for five years and an electric Ford Ranger for three years. Ranger is charged 100% with solar.
You have a solar charged- Electric Ford Ranger? Very impressive. Please quickly post some BS so that you can show pictures.
Aloha and Welcome. You now have a possible collectors item, your Ford Ranger they are not making Rangers anymore.
The Ranger is a conversion, not an original. My grandson and I converted it a little over three years ago. It runs great. Of course it is just a commuter. Range is 30 miles. Speed is 55 mph. Jim
It was not a kit. I did the project with my grandson to teach him about electrical/mechanical things so we measured, calculated and made everything. Here are a couple more pictures. Jim
that's a beautiful thing, great work! your grandson is very fortunate. how about pics of your solar set up? are you running the house in a grid tie?
The truck is emission free but the electricity from the grid, that we were using to charge it, was not. So we decided to install a solar system to supply "green" energy for the truck. Since we drive the truck during the day, when the sun is shining, we needed some way to store the electrical energy until we needed it to recharge the truck batteries during the night. A grid-tie solar system does that for us. For each day that we drove the truck, we were averaging 3.6 Kwh to recharge the truck. We installed four 225 watt panels, each with its own inverter, to supply this energy. Since we drive it only in good weather (we live on a dirt road), the system easily supplies all the power for the truck. The extra power just reduces our electric bill. Here are some pictures of the solar system.
very nice, that's exactly what i would like to do. my roof is too shady, but i have a field out back that would be perfect.
