I have a 2010 that I just got 2 months ago. My sales guy said I could play my iPod Touch 4th generation through the AUX port so I bought a cable and that's how I've always used it. Yesterday I plugged my iPod touch into the USB port because I thought I could use that to charge it while I played it via the AUX port like I always do. However, when I plugged it in my car said "iPod" and it recognized it. However, it said something about there not being any music and the screen on my iPod didn't show any music. Is there something I'm missing? I wish I could use my car to control my iPod, but from what I've heard that's not possible on a 2010. I've looked at some of the threads but I don't see anything specific to my question. Sorry if I missed the answer. Thanks!
Unless there is something different from the 2010 to the 2011, you should be able to connect your iPod only through the USB port. The Nav headunit will take control of it. iPod screen should read "Connected" and basically become disabled. From the Nav headunit...in the audio screen select "USB" and it should show your media library from your iPod. You can then control it fully from the car from the USB and the audio auxilury jack is not needed. This is how it works in my car.
so the car receive is controlling it now? If so, keep in mind to scroll down through large libraries...press and hold the arrow keys. It sucks...but it is the only way.
