Okay, with that additional weight did you update the suspension? What year was the last install you did?
I have done a gen 2 and a gen 3. It is not required that you do a suspension upgrade, but sometimes people prefer it. Especially if you regularly have passengers, as opposed to doing mostly 1-person commuting.
Thanks If I took my 07Prius and did a Enginer 4kw install okay. Then did a lowering coil spring replacement would that be okay?
I have done a 8KWH install on my Gen2 Prius. You do not need spring replacement but the rear wheel arches are a lot lower and very noticeble. Some say that it will not handle as well when driving because of uneven weight distribution. After all it is not a performance car. But if you have your springs lowered you may experience times when the rear wheels hit the arch specially when going over speed humps. The extra weight lower the rear arches so they come closer to the top of tyres.
What you are talking about would seem to indicate a need for customized springs. Or at least a shop that has the knowledge to fit a spring to your very unique situation: Adding extra weight and lowering a vehicle. Explain to the shop exactly what you are doing ahead of time (extra weight, placement, etc) or go to them after you have the kit installed and they can do an assessment and give you a recommendation.
Well I have seen where some gen 2 forum members have done a eibach coil lower kit $250 parts only and that lowers the vehicle around 1" . So just curious with a extra 160lbs 4kw phev kit how vehicle would do??
Are you meant to discard the cargo container and lid and side pockets. Can the cargo lid still go on top? Or should it be removed for maximum cooling.
are any and all 8kw kits (enginer and plug in supply, etc) needing to stash the extra batteries above and in the cargo area? meaning, you cannot put all of it under the mat?
To start The cells on Enginer kits RFE store above and below cargo area depend on how some one configures .Enginer has 8kw and PIS has 10kw. On any PHEV you will gain weight and lose trunk, cargo, spare tire, and rear vehicle space.. if done correctly most will go under the rear floor mat.
Thanks I assume that the 2kw, 4kw, and 8kw Enginer is all that is currently offered unless you mod two or more kits.....per Enginer www site..
