2012 Canadian Price are out! Base: 25 995 was Premium with sunroof :29 245 Touring: 29 550 Tech package: 34 080 No more premium model without sunroof. We also lost electrochromic rearview mirror i think. But i wish when i bought my 2010 Touring it was at that price! Thats a good reduction now but we lost JBL sound system! The tech package is now a lot more interesting because at 38k like before a Lexus CT200h is a lot more attractive for the price! http://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/build-price/prs#models-options
Re: Canadian Price are out Touring model lost the Premium JBL too. Glad I bought when I did. But then again my V was 31500 so 2K can buy you a pretty nice aftermarket audio system.
Re: Canadian Price Are Out I saw the Canadian equipment info re: the 2012 released by Toyota at my local dealership about a month ago. Nav w/ backup camera is now included on the Touring and Solar Roof models as standard (it wasn't even available on the '10 and '11 unless you went with the $$$ tech pkg). I believe the auto dim mirror with garage door opener is included on every trim except base.
Re: Canadian Price are out Am I reading this right? The Canadian tech package lost Intelligent Park Assist (as did U.S. tech package), but doesn't even have HUD in its place?
Re: Canadian Price are out Yup, you are absolutely right! I feel kinda rip off since the total for the Tech pack is near the US spec Prius five with ATP. But I need a car now therefore I did go ahead and order one anyway.
Re: Canadian Price are out Yes, no HUD (and apparently no illuminated vanity mirrors either) Actually a backup camera was available on all models but the base. It was integrated into the auto-dimming mirror.
Re: Canadian Price are out True but the CT still lacked APGS, DRCC and PCS, not to mention the solar panel roof =). For the extra $2,200 you gain LED headlights and a HDD nav w/ Remote Touch.(Comparing Tech Pack to Tech Pack). Of course the "L" badge too.
Re: Canadian Price are out Does anyone know when the 2012 Prius will be available in Canada? I'm currently in negotiations for a 2011 but even with the 3000.00 factory reduction, I'm hesitant. The 2012 is 2 grand cheaper and has $1,000 more value (Bluetooth and touch screen audio system) so it might be worth waiting.
Re: Canadian Price are out We don't have illumiated door still and water repellent glass as well. Also, we don't have US spec LED DRL, we still stick with old DRL set up. My dealer told me my prius will arrive around 16 Feb, so maybe around that time?
Re: Canadian Price are out I didn't realize how many features found in 2010/11s were eliminated. The 2012 seems pretty watered down, although it got some nice upgrades such as the much better NAV screen.
Re: Canadian Price are out Seriously?!? Well, I guess they really wanted to hit that $2,000 price reduction. I'm glad I have my 2010 Tech Pack! It has all the features I want plus some. Only the Premium HDD nav. The Display Audio is ok. A step up from the 04-05 but I'm not sure whether it's a step up from the 06-09 MFD. Depends which package you're looking at. The Moonroof Upgrade package seems reasonable if you're looking at the Premium w/ Solar and you don't mind losing the minor touches like footwell lighting. I prefer the items in the 2011 Tech Pack over the 2012 Tech Pack. Yes you gain a power driver's seat but you don't gain the HUD that US folks get. Then again, $3k is a good discount over the 2011 (but you lose the illuminated door sills, footwell lighting, water-repellent front glass and APGS - though some will say the last one is a gimmick and not really worth your money). But if you're getting a $3k discount on the 2011, then it's a wash. The 2012 do get a few upgrades as standard such as a nicer 5" MID, revised suspension tuning and more sound insulation.
Re: Canadian Price are out I'm planning to retrofit some of the feature that I don't have, but it seems kinda expensive. (ie: got a quote for one piece of water-repellent cost around CAD$500ish).
Re: Canadian Price are out CAD$500 buys lots of Rain-X and some features like footwell lighting are probably not worth retrofitting.
Re: Canadian Price are out Yeah it really isn't worth the $500 imo. It's just a bit more work to apply Rain-X every 6-12 months (I forget the interval). But good on Toyota Canada for trying to make the Prius a bit more affordable and trying to bring more people into the hybrid fold (and definitely putting pressure on Hyundai and Kia). They told me once that they wanted the Prius to be their hybrid leader (at that time, the Camry Hybrid was outselling the Prius) so this might just be the final checkbox needed to bring that in (plus the 2 new models - v and c).
Re: Canadian Price are out Yes...to clarify my earlier post, a navigation system that doubles as the screen for the backup camera is now offered on all trims except the base model in Canada. Previously, navigation was only available with the tech package, and though the backup camera was available, the (tiny) screen was integrated into the rearview mirror.
Re: Canadian Price are out True. It's nice to have it in the navigation screen but again there are two sizes - 6.1" and 7" high res for 2012.
That's because there won't be a 2012 PiP. It's rolling out nationally in the US at end of 2012. So, figure 2013 spring. What is more troubling is the lack of federal incentive for the PiP. Maybe Ont and Que still has a program in effect but in Manitoba it is over. I got $2000 for my Prius just before they ended it. Getting $4000 for a PiP would be sweet.
I'm sad to hear the PiP pushed to 2013, I was hoping to get one this year I had 4k for my 2008 Gen2 Prius. I agree there should be more incentives for PHEVs. However, Harper's government has made it clear they're not fans of incentives like those.
ON, QC and BC have incentives in place for BEVs, PHVs and EREVs as well as fuel cells. $8k-ish for ON/QC and, surprisingly, $5k for BC
