Almost wrapped up a purchase this weekend on Prius V two model basic package no extras Total price came down to 28,100.00 total incl. all fees and taxes. Original internet advertising stated the car was a three model but it turned out to be a two. Either way it didn't happen after several hours so we are in limbo again. Any thoughts on pricing anyone ? We shopped around and tried using costco pricing but even that was 26,400 invoice plus 800 admin fees plus 500 dealer fee plus ? toyota division fee plus state tax plus title tax which ended up being 29,500.00 which took a few hours so using costco was not cheaper because of the added fees from the dealer. One day buying a car will be more easier and will be done all online without the middle man ! Why can't it be now ? What a waste of time !
seems like they will do anything to get you to come in.... Went to a local dealer over the weekend myself to look at owning my first prius. What the ad did NOT say was there was over $2800 in dealer, doc, and service fees PLUS sales tax. after tax and everything, $10,655 and change was not worth a 03 prius with129k miles on it... Who cares that it had a rebuilt HV pack... I am not paying that much money for it considering I can get an 06 for that price and have some money sitting in the bank for when the battery needs replaced....
Silver2001, The middle-man will be gone the same day people agree to buy cars sight unseen, no test drives, at msrp. As for being jerked around, try emailing dealers and when you get a price you want to buy, have them send you a memo of agreement in return for a down payment.
silver2011 Fees seems to be way excessive Last week I paid admin fees - $2.50, doc .fee -$150, license fee -$203 estimated This may depend on your state of cause Toyota division fee (must be advertising) should be part of invoice
Wow, I thought I'd see at least competitive prices from Costco, but $28100 out the door isn't a very good deal for a v Two. I know you didn't mention how much TTL is in your area, but even for CA standards, where TTL is quite high, that's not a very good deal for a v Two. And by the way, $26400 is MSRP for a v Two, not invoice.
Guys you are making it harder on yourselves. Even if you buy a car for $500, you still need to pay sales tax, reg fees, dealer fees etc. Before you even walk to the negotiating table you should already know that regardless of what dealer you go to you will be paying $200-$500 for a dealer doc/prep fee, X% in state sales tax, and $X to register the car. Tax and reg has nothing to do with the dealer, and no dealer in their right mind is going to negotiate state fees into the deal.
