Hello! Been lurking on these forums for the past week or so doing research for a new car... after testing several different options.. my fiance and I finally settled on a new to us Prius.. We found one that we like that we will be looking at tomorrow.. it's a 2010 Prius III with Nav + Solar Roof package ~ 26k miles.. dealer has it listed for $19.5k obo. Car is a 1 owner trade, purchased and titled in NY (we're from NY state as well) - this means we should get the 10 yr - 150k warranty on the battery right? A few other questions.. Do you guys think this is a good price? (it's def under what kbb has it listed for) - If not, what do you guys think is a reasonable price? Is there anything to look out for with the 2010 Prius with the Nav/Solar Roof package? (problem or issue wise) Thanks and looking forward to joining the Prius Family!
per carfax, it's a clean title. no accidents. I have to say, one big reason that we decided to go with a prius is due to this forum and all the support that's out there. so thanks!
This site played a big part in me deciding to check out the Prius, after going from 19mpg premium fuel to 28mpg regular and then it getting totaled, the numbers on the Prius looked really good to me. While waiting for a settlement, I looked around and found a '10 for less than the check so I started looking here and the reliability convinced me to go hybrid. I've read a lot here and continue to learn things I didn't know about what a great car this is. By the way, mine had 43K on it and got it for less than $17,500 so I'd think yours is a good deal.
Seems like you've done your homework. The only thing left potentially would be to have it checked out independently. Clean title, Clean Carfax, low miles...I think good price... Is this a Toyota Dealership you are purchasing from? About the safest thing is to have it checked out independently. By a dealership that has no interest in whether you purchase it or not... At least a visual inspection by a technician and perhaps a computer check to see if any codes have been thrown.. There is always risk in buying a used vehicle. But on paper? It sounds good.
Sounds like a decent price to me, especially from a dealer. Is it CPO? Given that I wouldn't take $19,500 as a trade-in credit for our 2010 III, nav, roof with 29,000 miles... I'd go for it. I would certainly start the negotiations at a sub $19,000 figure though. In the end, you should walk away with a great price on your new car.
Welcome aboard! They be wanting to unload that so start low, but the price doesn't seem unreasonable.
Thanks for the input everyone! Yeah, getting it looked over by a toyota will be a good idea. The car is at a Chevy dealer, original owner traded it in for a suburban (talk about going from one extreme to the other..) I do plan on starting the negotiation under 19k.. I, think if I can get it for 19k, i'd be happy considering the original msrp is around 29k I believe.. with all the options.. but will def strive for the lowest number possible. Also, it's not a CPO..
Depending on how much you drive, the gas savings alone could potentially pay for the car at that price. Good luck and hopefully it all goes smoothly. Like others have said at that price it's a great buy on paper.
I think it's a great price. I have the same model I bought in May 2010. Very happy with it. Look forward to hearing how it goes.
Yet another owner with the same options and about the same mileage (26k). Absolutely no issues with mine; just change the oil and rotate the tires. Go for it! But be warned, the solar vent will spoil you.
Thanks for the input everyone! We are going to go check the car out here shortly. Will update on how it turns out!
The only thing I would watch out for is the Nav unit buttons can become non-responsive. Make sure you get a warranty that will allow you to replace it free of charge, like I had to do. The Toyota Platinum warranty paid for it. But if you are replacing the Nav with a unit of your choosing, then I wouldn't worry about it.
see if u can get the dealer to turn off (turn to ONE beep) on reverse as a condition to buy it. many of us are annoyed by beeping reverse. Hope u enjoy ur Prius as much as we do!
Just wanted to update everyone.. We ended up taking the Prius home today! Final price was $18.5k + tt/fees.. OTD price was just over $20k. Thanks everyone for your inputs! Looking forward to contributing to the forums!
