Whats up guys? I'm a new owner of a 2010 Pruis iv, with the navi package. I wanted to know if anyone got any recommendation of intergrating the ipod into the system and being able to watch movies and listen to music on the factory head unit. I saw that a company called coastal e tech lockpicks have kits that can be installed. Have any one tried them b4? Thanks.
I can not speak for video but as I own an 2011 IV with a nav unit/moon roof, I can tell you that the car supports both the bluetooth "HFP" profile which supports apps such as the iPhone phone subsystem (calling, receiving, phone book, etc.). The car will also support "Skype" through the car speakers (you can video conference as well) since Skype supports HFP. Keep in mind though that you should always pick up the call from the steering wheel and not the iphone or the iphone speakers will get used by default. The car will also support the bluetooth "A2DP" which is also referred to as "Bluetooth Audio". This will allow any app which supports A2DP to use the Prius speakers for audio. This included the builtin Music/iPod app but also apps such as Pandora, Tune Radio (live radio), and iHeartRadio (clearchannel stations). If you have iOs 5, then the song information will get displayed on the Prius display. As a fellow Texan, please keep in mind that if you place the phone anywhere where it is in sunlight, even if it is not 'hot' outside, the iphone/ipod will heat up and to keep cool will shutdown the backlight making it impossible to see anything while you are driving. That is why I suggest you keep it in front of an A/C vent if possible. I have never had an overheating problem since I have done that. I mount my iphone in a 'ram-mount' to the left of the steering wheel in front of the left a/c vent. Joel
