I have my PII since end of October. My last tank is 750.7 mi 57.78mpgUS 12.99ga. picture : As the title indicates, I want to reach kilo-tank with my PII, as I was doing it so easily with my old polluting diesel (1268.9mi 77.87mpgUS 16.30ga). My last 7 days has been 61.1mpgUS and my best trip (cold engine) 67.7mpgUS. I need to improve my FE to reach the needed 77.7mpgUS but I'm ready to Have fun, Denis.
you may not reach 77, but think how much better it is for the environment. then again, 77 is not impossible. bonne chance!
Of course I will reach 77 Economically the Prius will cost more per distance : during last 12 months I reached 67mpgUS and here diesel is cheaper than gasoline. I changed for the PII because environmental reasons : it's generating 20 times fewer PM/NOx... than my old EuroII diesel I also changed it for geek reasons : my SGII isn't compatible with my old diesel Have fun, Denis.
Excellent FE. Keep working on it and maybe 77 mpg is possible. The best I have managed is 3.2 ltr. per 100 kil.. Close but not 77 MPG. Hal
Kilo means 1000 right, and you're already at 1207 km. So what do you mean be "kilo tank". Also, 1207 km at 4.1 L/100km is 49.5 L. That's pretty impressive for a 45L tank, or does the French Prius have a higher capacity tank? BTW. Oddly enough diesel is generally a little bit more expensive than regular petrol here in Australia. Edit. Ok I just figured it out, you've got 1000+ km but you want 1000+ miles. So if you're saying you need 77.7 MPG to reach 1000 miles then you must have a 12.9 US-gal tank?
Yes, I want a "US" kilo-tank, ie 1000 miles = 1609 km. My old diesel had a 60L = 15.85ga tank. With it I reached 2041.7km = 1268.9mi and filled-up 61.68L = 16.30ga. As the Japanese Prius, the French one haven't the anti evaporation system on the bladder tank. You can put 45-48L = 11.9-12.7ga very easily then up to 50-52L = 13.2-13.7ga by filling up slowly. I put up to 49.67L = 13.12ga as my gas pump stops 2 minutes after the first clic. I didn't test this yet: Some people are driving a little before filling up again, while others are filling up jerrycan they use to very slowly fill up the bladder tank. Here diesel should be more expensive than diesel, but taxes are maintaining diesel cheaper... Europe wants taxes proportional to energy content, which would mean increasing diesel taxes by 40% and diesel by 20% to be 10% more expensive than gasoline. "Happily" French taxes are so important that this dirctive isn't mandatory to us Have fun, Denis.
In Australia we also have a tank that's nominally 45L and with no bladder. So far though I've not been too concerned about trying to squeeze any extra into it. Here's my best tank (44L used)
