I wondered when delivery of 06 Priuses would begin in the Chicagoland area. I've had mine on order since August and my dealer says I will have to wait until the end of January before my Package 7, Silver Metallic arrives. Is he just giving me the stall act?
Don't know. Who are you dealing with? I put down $500 a couple weeks back with Continental Toyota, after months of visiting but no commitments from the dealer. At that time they wrote the contract for MSRP but not specific numbers with a clause that I could back out when numbers were fixed. I thought that was odd, but I wanted to get on the list. They said they expected a Red #8 could be had by end of December, and they would give VIN when a shipment was identified. I have heard nothing yet. Never really felt like they ever wanted to sell me this car in any of my visits. I chose them because they are close by and their service department did well by us with our Corolla. Last I checked they only have 2005s on the lot. If they don't have something identified in the next couple of weeks, I plan to go to another dealer who has expressed a stronger interest in selling me a car.

We ordered an 06 Silver back in September and got the run around for 3 months. We found out that the car was never ordered. Fortunately, we were able to find a silver package 6 from Oak Lawn Toyota in Illinois. There were 2 in stock and we got the one we wanted. hope this helps.
But where did you originally try to order from? Helpful to know. We may check out Oak Lawn. Was the rest of the experience OK, MSRP?
Checked with Continental. They said they actually ordered the car as requested by me (Barcelona Red, Package 8) and are awaiting a ship date. Also estimated 4-6 weeks to delivery. I will check back with them before Xmas.
Talked to my dealer Wednesday 12/07 here in SE Michigan. Was told their first 06 Pkg 8 was arriving in port 12/09 and I should see it sometime late next week. Of course I don't actually have the keys in my hand yet.
