Just got an email from my dealer (Longo) that they have 2012's on the Lot and I can come by and check em out:rockon:
I suggest a prize for the first person who reprograms their EV noisemaker to new sound. No points for disconnecting it, only for changing it to something like a big block V8 with a lumpy cam, an ice cream truck, etc.
Press realeases in Germany about the 2012 say that the interior of the dashboard has a higher sensorial quality in coparrison with the 2010, but in september when i went to the "Frankfurt Motor Show" to see the 2012 Prius i couldn´t really tell any difference in that respect so maybe they were just prototypes . I am very exited to hear about the US-2012 Prius final version ! The European version will probably be at the dealers in march .
Judging from the MSRPs of the four 2012s on the Longo Toyota website right now, they seem to be Twos.
Or the theme from Star Wars' Empire troopers that these dogs are barking: Yeah, I know it is a Volkswagen commercial, but I like it. Sharol
Wshew .... that took a while. They must have taken a delay hit from the earthquake / tsunami or the floods in the other country.
It'll be interesting to definitively know whether the Two comes w/the backup camera or not. We had conflicting info...
looking at the allocation sheets I got from the dealers on the 2012...2's it does not. Looking at Toyota's official press release on their website.. it does not. The backup camera is only on the 3s and up. Danny posted his announcement BEFORE Toyota officially released. If there happens to be a backup camera on the 2... I will eat my own sock.
'12 not up here yet, but dealer saying 2012 Two will not get backup camera. IMNSHO, backup camera is nice to have, but certainly not required for most maneuvers. If backing up to a wall or parking on street with tight space (parallel parking) backup camera would be very handy. Fortunately don't have to do either for now.
I would go with the big discount. There can't be any major difference between the 2011 and 2012. How many years was it before the current design? It doesn't seem to me that the Prius changes as frequently as some other cars out there.
The 3rd gen began w/model year 2010. It became available to the public ~May 2009. It was revealed to the world in January 09. I along w/Prius Connection San Francisco and Los Angeles attendees got the privilege of test driving them in March 09. The '12 is a mid-cycle refresh but is not a redesign. Exclusive: 2012 MY Prius - Changes and Additions | PriusChat was one summary of the changes. The added equipment starting w/model 2 is quite welcome. For example, the '10 and '11, if you wanted BT phone support, you needed to go with model Three, at minimum. If you wanted USB and/or BT A2DP music streaming, you had to go w/model Three at min AND pay for nav. '10 and '11 Priuses came w/no touchscreen unless you got nav. If you wanted a HUD on the '10 and '11, tough luck. It never became available in the US on those years. Entune is new to the '12.
Since the 2012 hatchbacks are at the dealers now, I wonder when Toyota will update their website to show 2012's instead of 2011's. It's time for that to happen.
I've been checking on the page every so often throughout the say as well wondering when they would activate the 2012 model page.
Probably not 'til well after the '11s are all sold out. I think it'll be at leat a month before they put the '12 up on site.
