I bought my 2011 Prius in Oct and pointed out the wrinkled seats to salesmen to be fixted at 5000 mile service. In preperation for that vist I stopped by to see how long they needed the car. Service person and next guy up said no go because that is the nature of the cloth seats. I looked in their lot and out of 14 prius the newest batch of 10 were good and tight. 4 were not as bad as mine. I searched this forum and found nothing on this issue. So what do you think? Pic to follow.
My seats have similar wrinkles, I also have 2011, they are not as visible, but they are there. I am not too concerned about it, our 2010 corolla got the same thing
My 2011 was bought at the end of August, has about 6000 miles, and the seats have no wrinkles - despite my 210 lbs. My face is out of warranty and is a different story.
My 2010 has the seat fabric wrinkles, though not quite as bad as yours. They appeared within the first week or so of ownership. I have had many, many cars, but never one with cloth seats that wrinkled. Maybe Toyota uses a lower quality fabric, or installs it in such a way as to be a common problem in their cars? Must be the case if other Toyota owners see this in their cars. Tom G.
Looks not to bad to me. My car may have a few i never pay attention. I wouldn't worry leather can do this also. I don't see it causeing any harm, besides bothering you.
The wrinkling may be due to the foam they use under the cloth. I've had other cars with cloth seats and they didn't wrinkle like this.
Mine are just as bad, if not worse. Strangely the front passenger seat, which I can count the number of times it has been sat in, has worse wrinkles than the drivers seat.
We just had our 2011 Prius with cloth seats in the dealership with wrinkled passenger seat. It showed up rather quickly but the dealer wouldn't address it til about 10,000 maintenance. They did not successfully get the wrinkles out of the passenger seat totally. What is most disheartening is that they say it's "normal". I have never in 30 years of car ownership had a wrinkled seat of any kind, leather or cloth. It's shameful and dishonest to claim it's normal.
I posted about 10 days ago our displeasure of the poor quality of the seat material on our Oct. 2011 build date prius hatch model 3. The seats are the light gray which at 9k miles show wrinkles, wear and soil on the side bolsters. This material reminds me of the paper product Kimberly Clark (Noah) car cover my son uses to protect his Mustang. To make matters worse, in Florida we had to take the junk gyp SE Toyota Toyoguard for $699. that is suppose to protect the interior!
I used a heavy dose of scotch-guard when new over the whole seats/carpet area, and the driver seat looks dirty 2 years later. The cloth seat material is my biggest disappointment in Prius so far, but that is a minor flow in my book.
