I know that Japan, UK and Australia have right side 04 - 09 Prius driver seats with height adjust. Just curious if any countries have left side driver seat with height adjust, thanks.
I was under the impression that all Euro Spec LHD Prius had drivers seat height adjust too. This thread seems to confirm that, see post on page 1 from KMO.
OK - any chance we can get specific on part numbers? In theory there would be three options for such a swap (EUR Spec LHD Seat w/Vertical Adjustment into US Spec Vehicle - using my 09 as an example): 1) replace the entire seat with a EUR one: (sorry I'm apparently too new to post URLs so it's www then com instead of ____ ___.toyodiy.___/parts/p_E_2009_TOYOTA_PRIUS_NHW20L-AHEEBW_7101.3.html) That would be 71200S Seat Assy, Front LH which translates into one of four part numbers depending on trim/color: 71200-47260-B0 (NHW20..LHD, MD.GRAY, TRIM1*) 71200-47260-E0 (NHW20..LHD, GREGE, TRIM4*) 71200-47330-B2 (NHW20..LHD, SEAT COVER MATERIAL-NATURAL LEATHER, MD.GRAY, TRIM1*) 71200-47330-E0 (NHW20..LHD, SEAT COVER MATERIAL-NATURAL LEATHER, GREGE, TRIM4*) 2) only replace the minimum number of parts needed to provide the vertical adjustment to our seats. This would appear to be the cheaper, more reasonable option but identifying which pieces might be less straightforward. 3) perhaps the seat frame is all that's needed? 71120B Frame Assy, Front Seat w/Adjuster, LH which boils down to part number: 71120-47060. I don't know if it's used or new but it appears to be for sale for just $500 at toyota-europe.epc-data.___ (I'm apparently too new to post URLs so it's com instead of ___ toyota-europe.epc-data.___/prius/nhw20l/2874/body/7101/71120B/). Anyone have ideas on this? Can anyone confirm whether such a swap would work and which of the options above are the best to pursue?
i know this thread is old but if we could find a way to source the LHD prius seats with adjustment, I'd have no problem paying exhorbitant shipping
Would it need to be electrical adjustment? I think my Dutch LHD had manual height adjustment (2009 Gen II, pretty basic model). I'll have to verify first if I'm not mistaken obviously
I think the only electrical adjustment is the lumber support. The hight adjustment is by a lever (assuming the lhd is the same as rhd setup). Perhaps there's a sideline in height adjustable lhd seats for the US market? I wonder why they didn't sell them there? Is it something to do with you getting heated seats and Europe not? Does the up and down movement cause issues with the heated seat wiring? Does just the seat base need to be replaced or even just the metal base? That would make it easy to modify for those that want height adjustment. Not sure where you'd get the parts if you found them? Maybe a Dutch dealer as the Dutch all speak very good English and the Prius is popular there.
Checked and mine indeed has the lever (as Grumpycaddie suggests) that feels like it basically lifts the back of the seat up or drops it down. I'm happy to go and take a look at article numbers if you tell me where to find them ??? Won't go unscrewing my seat unless I know where to look for numbers and know that I'm indeed doing someone a service. Once that's solved I could always ring a Toyota dealer...
I am from North Carolina,USA... I am computer challenged apparently, so I am hoping you might have the time to answer a quick question... I need a driver's seat for the right hand side of my 2013 toyota prius 3 car because my passenger is too tall and I need to be able to adjust it lower. No one here knows how to find or order the parts that do that here... not even my dealership not even the part numbers believe it or not. I have been searching for hours. I believe you drive on the left hand side of the road there so that your driver's seats would be on the right like I need this one to be. Could you post a phone number to a dealership or some sort of direction for me to look in to find this seat? Thank you so much if you can help
If Toyota doesn't know, I certainly don't. Toyota likes to do things by the book which doesn't involve ordering foreign country driver seats to put in the passenger side of Prius. There would be some wiring issues as there is an occupant detection system in the front passenger seat. Also, I couldn't tell you if the right hand driver's seat would bolt into the chassis. maybe the passenger footprint is different, I don't know. You need a car with power seats for both front passengers
The European LHD and RHD drivers seats are obviously different. The height lever on mine (RHD UK) is on the right and I assume the LHD version is on the left. Cycledrum is right too, there may be wiring issues or differences in side mounted airbags or their controllers. I guess you could chance one from a European dealer, but you'll have language issues, high shipping costs, possible customs charges, all to adjust your seat up and down. It's your money and your call.
yes lol, my passenger is tall! ...thank you for replying. I feel that it is my saleswoman blowing off my question rather than Toyota, because I have been learning all sorts of information without her! I am fully willing to put the money in to have it done according to Toyota's standards because I do not want my passenger to ever get hurt and I really love this car.
It's the language barrier I worry about the most. You are correct in assuming the LHD height control lever is on the left. My passenger's head actually scuffs the stuff in the top of the car and reclining the seat back really far is very uncomfortable for him. So yeah lol, if I ever want to drive the car too I'm going to have to because we already purchased it...
Other remedy is to recline the seat a little extra, but not so much they will slide under the belt in an accident.
Hang on I'm confused now. It's for your passenger? Then a RHD seat would be ok? In that case there is no language barrier as you could order one from the UK, Ireland or Australia.
yeah that's what I want to do but I don't know the part numbers... apparently this is as overwhelming for my dealership as it is for me. My vin number is for LHD side and I guess somehow that ties in with the part number. If I could contact one of your local dealerships and personally ask someone that would be a great start. I emailed a dealership in the Bahamas and have not heard back (I know they drive on the left hand side so I was keeping my fingers crossed that they'd contact me back)... Thank you for your suggestion I will look on the internet again for contact numbers to dealerships in the UK, Ireland and Australia... anybody have a number or a dealership email from somewhere that everyone drives on the left hand side that they can post for me to call with a RHD seat? That would be awsome! When I look for information I can't get past the American car information, ads, and dealerships.. oh yeah except a manufacturer in Japan(Bafta)... language barrier lol... if all else fails I'll filter what I want to say through a translation site and email it to Japan then when/if they email back I'll do the same with their email to me and hope it translates correctly hehe thanks everyone for trying to help...
