Mud Flap Installation Directions Forgot to mention. I'm not the only guy whose mud flaps came without installation directions. Danny got me the directions very quickly and I've saved them on my computer. If yours come without installation directions, shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll send them to you.
Re: Mud Flap Installation Directions I am in the same boat. I appreciate your offer and am submitting men email address. Many thanks ldbman
The dealer suggests not getting molding or door edge protection because they “are areas of rust”… and feedback?
I'm not one to ask as there is no snow where I live, hence no road salt. I've never heard of any Prius getting rust but someone who lives in the snow/rust belt would be a better source of info.
Russ, you can get them at the PriusChat.com Shop Click on "SHOP" link above or here: 2012 Toyota Prius v : PriusChat Shop I just ordered and received the moldings, but can't put them on yet because it's too cold and I have no garage.
The car metal is supposed to be at least 74 or 75 degrees, which you can accomplish with a heat source of some sort (heat gun, hair dryer, heater, etc.). But what I wonder about is IDEALLY how long should it be at such temps in order for the adhesive to set completely or substantially completely?
I had mine professionally installed by a body shop about 3 weeks ago when the temps were in the 20s and low 30s. They kept the vehicle inside all morning to get it up to a good warm temperature and then did the installation. Cost me $50 for labor. They're holding in place perfectly. No sign of anything loosening up at all.
In my world, having a clean car is a desperate necessity for a happy life but not everyone feels the same about that. I don't think mud flaps protect the body from rock chips much, but they do prevent the accmulation of tar, dirt and brake dust on the painted surfaces behind the wheels.
I put on the moldings myself. Just a heads up...on the set I purchased, the 3m tape was not one continuos piece. The last 2 inches was a separate piece. Be sure to peal off the tape backing before you begin the install. I found out the hard way.
Have you noticed any change in MPG after adding the mudguards? They should have some impact on the drag coefficient, even if minor.
I noticed an increase in MPG after installing my Mudguards, Side Moldings and Shark Fin Antenna......Maybe it has to do with the fact that I now drive more slowly past store front window's to check myself out. :thumb:
