It's out on the newsstands now. The one w/ a black 'flamey' Mitsubishi EVO VIII on its cover. Oct '05 Issue 177. Full name of the mag is: Turbo & High-Tech Performance.

    FYI.

This is the car that was talked about a few months ago, right? I use to like that mag, may have to go pick it up.

I honestly couldn't think of a worse car to use a turbo on. The engine is too high compression with too weak rods and pistons. Not to mention the complexity of trying to reprogram the ECM. Just silly.

And why is it the Oct '05 issue?! We're still in the midst of August. Magazine issues and car model years never really make sense.

A low-pressure turbo to increase efficency (reclaim spent heat energy) would make sense, but not a high pressure solution purely for performance.

Re: Blitz Turbocharged Prius featured in the Turbo Mag Issue

I think a turbo Prius (as a factory build) make sense. Use a smaller motor that is more efficient (due to the turbo) so the total ICE power ends up the same.

The turbo whine coming from the engine compartment as you are backing out of a parking space would be pretty cool :)

But for performance? No one buys a Prius for neck snapping acceleration.

even though a high-pressure turbo wouldn't make sense in the case of the everyday Prius.. i'm glad Blitz did it to show that Prius are at least ABLE to be turboed. Plus, Blitz probably liked the challenge of playing with a car that isn't just an average car.

And they double as BOATS! No immediate control of steering! ;)
