I'm currently on the market to purchase a 2011 or 12 to replace my 2001 prius with busted tranaxle. The model I'm interested in is the technology package. For 2012, they removed: Water Repellant Front Door Glass Intelligent Parking Assist Front Illuminated Doorsill Trim Illuminated Vanity Mirrors Rear bumper protector Also they changed: Leather seat to Synthetic leather seat DVD navigation to Hdd navigation Manual driver seat to power driver seat They currently offer CAD$3000 off for 2011 model. So I was wonder if you were me, will you choose 2011 or 2012 and why?
Doesn't the Tech package also have the HUD? There's also a DVD player with the HDD nav, JBL GreenEdge speakers, split-screen capability for the nav screen, higher resolution 5" MID screen, retuned suspension, a bit more sound insulation, LED DRLs. So.. they removed illuminated vanity mirrors? really?? I find that hard to believe. I'll have to ask the dealer for the 2012 prelim spec printout (I assume that's where you're getting your info?)
Well, the 2012 is likely to cost more, so that $3000 CDN will likely really amount to $5000 or so. Frankly, I was planning on buying a 2012 sometime this spring, but ended up buying a 2011 Model Five with the advanced tech package in November. I'm glad I did!!
I don´t beliieve that ! I am pretty sure they where illuminated when i saw the 2012 Model at the Frankfurt Motor-Show ! Not long ago someone here wrote the drive-mode buttons wouldn´t be illuminated in the 2012 but what sense would that make ? i believe dealers give false information deliberately to make people buy the old model ! Btw mine even tried to deny a facelift was on it´s way a few weeks after i already sat in front of it´s steering wheel !
If you Pay thé car cash I would say get a 2011, at the end after 10 year you would have save money and the car won't worth 3000$ in 10 years because it was a 2012! So in 2012 LED are not only on Touring version?
True but when they start playing with small items like an illuminated vanity mirror ... . What's next, the glovebox light? What? we're getting jipped again? <sigh>.
Do you have an official brochure for the 2012 yet ? If not i wouldn´t give to much on pre-info material !
since it appears you want some nice things in the car I wonder what discounts are on Lexus hs 250 ct200 ?
yeah since I'm going to drive it for at least 10+ which is same as my first gen. The salesman said they will sell it for MSRP or a few hundred off but not more. This is because there is line up on the CT. I did consider CT but I back off at last minute since the trunk space is small and my friends said the rear seat feel smaller than my first gen prius. The HS will be out of my price range therefore I'm not consider it. yeah, totally agree. Let's take lexus CT for example, I have no idea how come a warm climate place like Hong Kong version has heated steering wheel as option but us in Canada didn't have it.
No. Brochures usually don't arrive until a few weeks after the car has landed in the dealerships. The PDF versions are available on the launch date, however. The preliminary specs are usually fairly close. I've only noted minor changes (and I mean stuff that the dealer could add or remove) between the preliminary and final specifications. I'm assuming most things have to pass some sort of inspection for sale plus they have to start building up stock so the cars are already being manufactured in Japan so any changes have to be stuff that they can add on after it leaves the factory. Cause it's a different market. In HK, I assume just having that feature is cool even if you never use it. It just makes the are more luxurious. Canadians tend to be more practical and less materialistic.
I -still- say I want a heated steering wheel -BEFORE- a heated seat. My rear end can take care of itself, but it's hard to drive with heavy gloves on! Those switches are SO tiny! But the "choosers" are in Vancouver, where they don't get winter. That should explain everything!
I assumed that the choosers were in Toronto. https://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/secure/contact/toyota-canada
FWIW...was @ my local Toyota dealership today for an oil change on my Gen II and while waiting talked to a salesman about the pricing of the updated 2012's. Good news (for Canadians anyway) as 2012 pricing just released by Toyota Canada suggests there will be an approximate $2K price drop on each model within the Gen III range compared to 2011. I was quoted an MSRP of ~$25.5K for the base car, and an MSRP of ~$29K for the Solar Roof (4 in the US) and Touring (5 w/o tech pkg in the US). Interestingly, I got a peek at the information Toyota had sent to the dealer re: new content & deletions, and the dual illimunated vanity mirrors are indeed deleted on the 2012's. However, this is more than offset by navigation now being included as standard equipment with the Solar Roof and Touring packages (it wasn't even available on the '10's & '11s unless you chose the most expensive tech package). Anybody wanna buy a 2007?
That's fantastic news! (though I'm still chuckling at the deletion of illuminated vanity mirrors but you can't argue with a $2k drop).
I will believe they drop the price by 2000$ when i will actually read its confirm from Toyota Canada.....
I think CLYFE is right because the quote i got from different dealers in GTA last week they all give me CAD$42XXX on the road price (2012 with Tech pkg, blizzard pearl paint, rustproofing pkg and factory remote start).
Since the canadian model is similar to the german ( turn indicators in side mirrors ) i certainly hope they havn`t removed the mirror illumination in the German (European) version ! We will still get the IPA,in fact they even improved it so toyota says ! The solar roof will now be available with 17 " wheels . Toyota claims they improved the suspension as well as the insulation . A very good nav and greenedge jbl will be standard in top-model . Well however,i think removing illuminated vanity mirror is a realy rediculous move !
