Hi all I have a 2005 prius and I have the jbl radio. I did the stealth install and I ordered the metra 71-1761 87-94 toyota harness and the metra 70-1761 radio harness for toy 87-up not knowing they would not work with the jbl. I had to order the metra TYTO-01 JBL amplifier interface harness. It works great, I plan on added the other harness so I can use my volume up etc on the steering wheel. My problem is I would like to still have the stock radio able to be hooked up. Can anybody steer me in the right direction on what harnesses I need? I usually order on Amazon.com so if you might be able to send me the links that would be great. Thanks in advance. Josh [email protected] or pm
Josh, check radio shack or your local electronics store for a speaker switch. They are pretty simple devices with an A and B setting. This should allow you to switch back and forth between OEM and aftermarket stereos. I'm sure you can find something on the net too. Just try different search words.
the harness from my sony went into the tyto harness which went into the one from the car, the others I just put back into the factory radio, I some how need to get another harness that has 2 females I believe and one male to go back into the main radio? I think. lol now im lost. happy thanksgiving.
I'm not familiar with the plugs on the oem JBL setup so I'm lost too. lol Just remember that you cannot just splice wires. You will require a switch that isolates the the wires from each stereo. Happy Thanksgiving, Josh!
Metra just released the best option (way better than the PAC). For $45 to allow the steering wheel controls to operate my new JVC.... good deal! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039H2W66/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
enhance your JBL system I am very happy with my JBL system. The speakers are great and give amazing sound when it comes from an external device (like an Ipod). However, the sound coming from the radio is flat. Is there a way to enhance its sound without changing the speakers or installing a subwoofer ? Thanks
How did the metra harness work out for you over time. I used a similar harness by a different brand and after 2 weeks the audio on the front speakers has started to cut out intermittently. Which is pretty annoying
sorry for the way late reply. lol My front speakers are starting to cut out as well. Im thinking possibly wires are not secured. Going to pull the radio an front doors to see whats going on when I get a chance.
Guys, I also have JBL and Nav. Ordered these two harnesses as Cleveland and now am learning they won't work with my JBL setup. What harness do I need? I also have the PAC TATO and SWI-RC interfaces. What else do I need for the stealth install? Please help!
