Great find. Very interesting. IIRC, dealers charge ~$60 to reset the TPMS. At $150, this item would pay for itself on the third use. As you suggest, the only remaining question is... Does it really work? This coming winter I'll be running a set of winter tires for the first time in my life. : This could be the ticket...or will I have to submit to taping over the TPMS warning light?
I'd be more trusting if the web site didn't have things like: and nothing on the features tab. Certainly something almost affordable like this is needed.People who have separate summer/winter rims shouldn't have to pay, or even go to, the dealer twice a year just because the feds mandate an expensive device of dubious value. I think you're forgetting #3: You want some cool-looking rims to improve the performance of your car (e.g RAYS CE28n). Is anything at the (d/st)ealership ever cheap?
I know i know. but i figure if the new TPMS is already installed, telling the service manager what you needed to get down would take longer then them registering the sensors with the car. P.S. i wish i knew of a reliable hybrid mechanic in MD that was trustworthy.

My Lexus dealer charged $25 per wheel to program the ECU with new sensor IDs from my second set of tires (winter tires). The lexus allows you to have two sets of wheels registered with the ECU.
I went to the dealer the other day and they gave me a quote of 96 bucks to program the ECU with the new TPMS sensor that i had installed. I thought they misunderstood my request, but after repeated questioning that is what they charge.
I got one of these and it worked perfectly for the 2010 Prius. I put my summer wheels on and programed my new TPMS sensors.
Just curious: have you had to register the winter TPMSs again or is it an accepted fact that the 3rd gen doesn't track more than one set of TPMS? Thanks.
^ you can only store 1 set of TPMS IDs at a time in the ECU. Each time you swap back you either have to update the IDs or you have to deal with the dash light.
I wish Toyota had allowed the user to track 2 sets and allowed those that have the Navigation touch screen the ability to input the IDs and specify the active set via the touch screen.
