Anyone else having issues with this? It seems very "flakey" to me. I know about the bluetooth situation... But even with USB sometimes I connect and other times I can't. Very frustrating to pay over $27,000.00 for a vehicle and not have things work!
Try updating your iPhone 4S to IOS 5.01 (Settings, General, Software Update). It will then reboot. Then connect the USB cable from your phone to the car, and open the Entunes app. That is what finally worked for me.

I'm having the issue of iPod audio cutting out intermittently. Bluetooth is fine, & I've got the most recent software installed. I can't narrow it down to a common cause just yet.
I have the 4S latest firmware, I have the 2011 NAV system.. it works PERFECTLY. I mean every once and I while I may have to select the audio option on the phone .. but other than that, it is awesome.. I listen to Bluetooth internet radio through my car via the iPhone, phone calls, siri comes through the auto speakers, etc etc etc.. it is 99.9 percent perfect. I have a FORD F150 loaded..with 2011 nav system with the bluetooth etc.. it SUCKKKS! compared to the Toyota system...
I have the latest software update on my iPhone 4S but there is no internet connection on Entune. Frustrating!
I ran into this problem too. I found an answer on another site that helped. Basically I had to have the entunes app open on my phone (and be signed in). Plug the phone into the USB cable. Then turn the car on. When the car came on, it informed me it would use my phone as an Internet device.
