Front door speakers work OK with mine. But I don't have JBL option. Have you seen post #66 ??

Motonavi RHD head unit,

1. Physically fit perfectly to RHD drive Prius. (mine is 2011 model direct imported from Japan, Gen 3, Malaysia)
2. Touch screen super sensitive.
3. Sound system were great basically, but the both front door speaker not working, other were ok. I think most probably the JBL amp was not power up by the unit. I'm not sure whether is the hard wiring problem or the head unit setting. I'm still waiting for the reply from motonavi. So far their are providing a good after sale service.
4. The GPS SD card slot able to read the 16GB but the other one only 8GB, I try use 16GB but reading card error.
I think it is due to the GPS CARD SLOT belong to the win ce system. And mention in the manual, the win ce able to run
The 64GB. I will try to hookup the 64GB 2.5" hard drive to the USB connection at the back of the unit.
5. By the way, this is my first installation. I didn't dismantle the battery earth during installation. An alarm was occurred, after installation, "CHECK HYBRIC SYSTEM", however, I had check with dealer, and their mention to turn on and off the vehicle for at least 2 cycle. After that, the alarm was gone.
6. For my speakers problem, if anyone could provide a solution please help me. I don't want to modify the hard wiring. And I had checked the post #66, it is require an jump connection using the amp wire to supply & power up the JBL amp. As this motonavi HU same as Jeremy, and he could power up the JBL amp as well, please help me to find out the problem. I think this is also a very important to all of you including those considering to purchase from motonavi HU.

 

Please try to send Jeremy privite message he is much more known about prius,in my opinion ,that maybe the singal type of amp are different ,for jbl amp maybe digital while the device is analog ,the other day,some russian tole me that about prado,and they add a singal changer ,that seems to changed this.but i am not sure about that.Maybe it is new years day,they were off.

 

I have 16GB micro SD card in the multimedia SD slot and it works. Interesting you can only use max 8GB card. Was the 16GB card full? Mine has 7GB of data at the moment.

Toyota has different ways to power up the JBL amp. In the UK and Europe, it is by wire. In the USA it is by CANBUS signal. Do you know how it is done in your country? Perhaps you can access Toyota technical documents in your country?

I will fill my 16GB card up and see if it still works in the motonavi.

Edit: Have got up to 10GB on my 16GB card (over 8GB ) and motonavi unit still plays it OK.

Have also found that the unit will play WMA files (but not lossless WMA)

 

Mine (non-JBL) did not have any speaker issues.

I do not own any 64GB micro-SD card though the head unit have no issues working with 16GB. If you are contemplating hooking up to an external 2.5" HDD drive to the micro-USB port, you may encounter some power issues; I found some external USB storage devices need more "umph" to spin up (I have to use plug a USB-cigarette adaptor to supplement the extra power needs). My guess that a more efficient HDD storage or even SSD is preferred.

Had a little mishap with the Motonavi HU. I was in the middle of a phone call using the handsfree bluetooth when I put the Prius into reverse. Up came the backup camera on the HU and off went the volume. When I came out of reverse, the HU had lost the bluetooth connection to my phone and refused to pair again. After trying many things to get bluetooth working, I ended up doing a factory reset. Eventually, I was able to get the bluetooth working again and paired up with my phone.

Unfortunately, it has also reset the DVD and SD card player options which now come up with a 'Do not leave to master' message and refuse to play Does anyone with a Motonavi know how to 'unlock' the DVD and SD card player?

 

update:

The Motonavi unit has an optional brake wire which would appear to be disabled by firmware settings on delivery. However, a factory reset enables the brake wire.

Consequently, I have had to locate the brake wire and ground it to get the DVD and SD card player working again.

So it's a good idea to install and ground the brake wire (pink lead on backup camera connector) just in case.

Also, I have not had any replies from Motonavi and their Ebay shop looks a bit empty.

 

seems very little prople come to talk about it anymore.but you are right,you shall connect the pink brake wire.For the warning is to keep you safe ,it refuses you from watching video.

updates:
There are some strange things with this head unit so I decided to document them here.

FM Radio and RDS:
With the gen3 weak FM reception feature, RDS doesn't work as well as it should. So I just turn off the RDS features and use the radio as an old school FM receiver.

Volume settings:
When you go to set the volume for the different units (GPS, DVD, etc). The GPS one also controls the volume for bluetooth and the 'alternative' music player (see later). Took me ages to work out why the volume was OK for everything except bluetooth.

Music player (from SD card):
The music player for the SD card is the same software that plays DVDs and has some annoying features.
a) 4 second pause between tracks
b) Misses first note of each track
c) Doesn't remember what track was playing when turned off
d) No random play

Luckily, there is another music player but it uses the SATNAV SD card. :/
To access it, choose Multimedia from the front menu. Then click the small 2 icon at the bottom of the screen. This brings up page 2 of the multimedia options. On the left is the music icon. This will look for and play music files from the SATNAV SD card. It remembers what track was playing when turned off. Very small pause between tracks (normal MP3 gap) and it starts playing at the beginning of the track and has a random play feature.
Like everything else with this unit, the controls are a bit quirky. The player has a 'playlist' which shows in the window on the right. To add music to the playlist, click on the folder icon. This opens the browser. Navigate to the music files and click the select icon (top right). This will select all the tracks. Click OK and this will load the tracks into the playlist. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to clear the playlist out so as you choose more music to play, the playlist gets bigger and bigger. :O

Playing DVDs:
For some unkown reason, when you start playing a DVD, subtitles default to on.
Turning them off is not easy via the touch screen, so use the remote.
