Unreal or anyone with a model II with this deck or any other deck for that matter, when you answer a phone call while it is connected to bluetooth, do you touch the screen to answer or can you do it from one of the buttons on the steering wheel? And I'm guessing with a model III, since it already comes with bluetooth, you could just use the steering wheel to answer the call? Thanks in advance!

I thought about getting this deck but its $699 and there was a lot of bugs that i have seen in other forums. I went with the JVC-AVX840 came with wire harness, steering wheel control and dash board kit for $504 with CA tax. Free shipping. I also ordered a license plate back up camera from here http://tinyurl.com/bpyhkq4 but the lens was broken when i got it it was only $13 so gonna return it. Then i saw this tread and seen the CCD camera looks a lot better waiting for that to arrive so I can install it. I installed this my self using the diagrams listed here saved my self $300 that a local shop quoted me for install, also this unit lets you use your iphone to do navigation. I have some pics here of the install.

Since I don't have a button on my steering wheel I just touch the screen, but someone with a model III will be able to answer with the button..

I just got my G2 Ottonavi unit installed tonight ("finished" just before it got too dark to do anything else - ie. not all the trim is back on yet). Anyway, seems to work fine and seems very responsive to me. I'm able to get both levels of the backlight adjusted to my likeness and the interface seems nice and fairly quick.

The iPod interface is nice, though the pop-up for selecting tracks or albums has some weird scrolling behavior that kept making me pick something I didn't mean to pick. I'm not sure if that's a software thing or the fact that I left the plastic cover on the touchscreen until I get the install finished and it was interfering with the touchscreen response. I think I'm going to make individual playlists for each of my podcasts though since it doesn't have a very easy way to get access to them (though it does list them mingled in with the albums if you browse by album).

FYI, Daniel at Ottonavi kept saying it wouldn't work with my BluLogic bluetooth, but I think he thought I meant a stock touchscreen bluetooth option, because the unit seems to work perfectly fine with the BluLogic installed (and the BluLogic still works as well).

Now I need to get my bluetooth mic routed, the rear camera installed, and the gps antenna mounted in a better place (I was losing light so I just threw it into the lower glove box today). I'll play with it some more later and give some more opinions as I get the install cleaned up and finalized (probably after the New Year - I have New Years eve party stuff to attend to the rest of the week!!).

seems this device just came from little company in China, maybe some day i can have a view or pay a visit to their factory and take some photo to people here.
    In fact :
1.A device if using in car system ,it must be tesed by the third company,so that if influnce the system or not,for safe is the first thing.
2.The device must tested in the temperature and PH and Humidity aging tested for once the device on car,you must think twice of thesorround of the ICE.
3.People here shall double check where the device really come from
now i just have this things to confirm ,that is what i have told.

You can answer with one of the buttons on the steering wheel. However, if you have a model II, I didn't think you had phone buttons on the steering wheel.

Does anyone with the G2 unit know how to get the unit into Bluetooth pairing mode. I simply cannot figure out how to do it. I've tried holding down every button for a certain number of seconds, and I just can't find it.

you can't pair it through the unit. In your phones bluetooth setting the G2 will pop up as "bluetooth" and then you pair it.

I'm not sure. There's small round "grills" on the front that could be built-in mics, but I just haven't tried to make a call through the head unit's bluetooth. I can try today I suppose, since I haven't installed the external mic yet. That would be a definitive test I suppose.

I believe the one on the left (next to the volume) is a mike.
Never tested it because people say it's so much better with an external mike.

The other one (next to the Tuner) is not a mike but I think it's used for the infrared remote.

I tried to leave myself a voicemail at my office phone when I went to lunch today, but the voicemail system didn't create a message. I'm assuming that's because it didn't detect any audio input. I could have done something wrong though, but right now it doesn't seem there is one built in.

Won't you have to pull the HU to plug in the mic? I was hoping for a internal mic neater install maybe there is a setting for internal and external.

Yeah, the external microphone connects to the back of the unit. I need to take it out again to finish the mount of the GPS antenna, the iPod and USB cables, and to finish getting the unit completely flush with the dash, so I'll just plug in the external mic when I get a chance to go back into the dash and do all that.

Oghugo, I like your install pics of the jvc unit. Thanks for posting those. How did you mount your iPhone to the dash? How do you like the app link mode? Is it actually useful and easy to use? Is your trim kit metra or scosche ?

Thats funny and shows just how every opinion is different. I installed a Kenwood DDX719, and think it looks great in the Prius, and sounds much much better than the factory OEM HU and offers many more options. Its just a matter of opinion :) To me I would rather go for SQ over looks.

My pleasure JSD- I am so glad that someone found them useful!!!

As far as internal vs. external mic questions go, I am fairly certain that there is no built-in mic. The included external mic is very clear, but it of course, has the downside of being slightly visible. If you mount it where I did in my pictorial, the quality is amazing, and the visibility is really minimal.

Also, evtran: (posted on 11-26-2011) I couldn't figure out a way to rename the radio stations either. I think maybe they intended to add this feature, but didn't work out all the kinks before production. Oh well!
