I was going to let my 3 month trial expire, but then a couple of days ago got a letter offering 6 months for $29 + fees. It seemed a good enough deal. In 6 months I'll have either replaced the JBL head unit with something like an otto nav, in which case I'll call and cancel before the 6 month expires, or I'll call them and cancel anyway and see if I can get a better price than the standard monthly rate.
I did in November. That is more than the last few days but not that long ago. When calling XM ask for the Cancellation Department. Let them know that you will not renew at the current full rate because the price is too high. They should in turn offer you the $77 rate, plus royalty fees, plus taxes which comes out right at $90. If they do not offer the rate, ask for it.
The $77 rate only includes the basic channels and not any of the upper tier items. NavTraffic is an additional option.
It seems the longer one waits to renew, the better the offers from Sirius/XM. They can afford to cut some pretty good deals....the people I've talked to on the phone have been very nice.
I also got the subscription extension for $29 plus fees. If I decide to renew I'll ask for the $77 plus fees rate for one year.
Thanks guys. Called this morning and said I would cancel unless they provided the same $77 deal as last year. "I'll be glad to help you with that," was the reply. About $86 with royalty fee and sales tax. Good for another year.
