Let's talk about Google here. It could be anything in general about their products, projects, media coverage, dead projects, etc.

    I'll start.

Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com had supposedly the first time ever on TV, coverage of the inside of their NY facilities.

As part of the coverage of a recent SF BayLeaf meeting where the Leaf's Chief Vehicle Engineer, some Nissan engineers from Japan and some very senior Nissan folks were present (first pictured at My Nissan Leaf Forum • View topic - Nissan Engineering Team Visit Dec. 3rd: Recap), when I had to go to the bathroom, I passed by a bowling alley inside the Googleplex and some class that was going on (even though it was Saturday) w/women sitting on mats (probably yoga, pilates or something like that).

Type "let it snow" and search. Snowflakes will start falling, and after a while, the screen will fog up. Then you can click and move your cursor to draw streaks on the screen, and of course hit the "defrost" button. :p

I got a friend who just got a credit card holder cellphone case. Google Wallet is coming to many Android devices soon. Soon, we won't be carrying wallets anymore. This brings another product to the market, a condom holder case for Google Wallet phones.

It'll be interesting to see if their NFC takes off in the US or anywhere else.

I don't think the Google Wallet can ever beat the mighty Octopus Card of Hong Kong.

A while ago I said that Google+ was headed for failure, and received a number of hearty responses to the contrary.

So, now that a few more months have passed, how's that going for them? Not great, from what I'm seeing.

Android phones are so diverse that it is up to the device manufacturer and the carrier to release the software once Google releases it. iPhone on the other hand doesn't have this problem. Once Apple announces a new iOS, you know when you can play with the new software. There are some phones being sold today that still runs Froyo when Ice Cream Sandwich has already been release. These Froyo devices will have to wait a few months to get Gingerbread update and almost a year before ICS gets released. By that time, Jelly Bean will be out. I'm not too happy that handset manufacturers are busy releasing the next big thing and neglecting the current big thing.
I just got a factory unlocked 32GB white 3GS as a hand-me-down. The family member just bought a 4S to replace it. The more I play with it the more I realize how much I value the vast customizablity Android has to offer. The lack of basic functions such as screen timeout adjustment on the iOS5 further re-enforces my disliking towards the iphone.

Wow! How day do dat??? Cool.

Google Plus aside (which I never heard of until reading the posts above) they seem to do some pretty good stuff. The Google search engine has certainly gotten a lot better over the past few years.

I have 162 'friends' on Facebook. I have 228 folks in my 'circles' in Google+, so for me Google+ is busier than Facebook, but I have very nerdy friends. (I am Jimbo Palmer in both places, feel free to add me)

Anyone ranting about their job or employer online is STUPID!

Forget Google - anyone that thinks the internet is a place to say anything without consequence is simply deluded. And particularly if they choose to rant about their job.

If a family member plays with a gun and blows their head off because the safety lock failed, do you focus on the gun maker or the person foolish enough to take a chance?

The radio show and podcast This American Life had an episode recently about a guy who was arrested at his home by a whole bunch of fully-armed cops after he posted on his Facebook page that he was thinking of shooting up an Apple store after they made him wait several hours for service because he didn't have an appointment. He thought he was just letting off steam. They thought he was making a terrorist threat, and charged him accordingly.

As you say, it is foolish to imagine that you have complete anonymity when posting to the internet.

Anyone that ever was a moderator can find the email and IP address of members.

Not that we really care about spammers, but when they make a lame attempt to appear All-American and their email ends in .ru - the IP is from Asia it's EPIC FAIL.

I've had some serial trollers enter their work email....is that reckless or what?

If it's not very, very obvious, make a decent attempt to be anonymous if you go rude, controversial, or into a rage. As noted already on this thread, some lack common sense when contacting a company or discussing an employer.

If someone wants to ID you - they usually can.

    Better yet, don't flame.

I'm an admin on another board, and one of my jobs is proactively nuking spambot accounts before they have a chance to actually spam. Recently somebody actually registered the name "iamspam" with an IP from China. The points they got for honesty didn't save them from me nuking the account.

I totally disagree. I was a huge fan of them 12 years ago (do not know exactly, it was looooong ago that I started using them) and they kicked the s**t out of Altavista, Ilse (Dutch), or whatever searchengine's were around back then.

Lately I find it harder and harder to override what the SEARCHENGINE THINKS I am searching for. It will search for its own interpretation of what I typed, NOT WHAT I ACTUALLY TYPED. Including simply ignoring words, possibly to favour the paying customers.
Makes me want to go postal on their behinds.

:thumb: Curious if this gets continued...
