Honestly, I never thought I would post here, but I'm finally going to write down some of my thoughts about the 2010 Prius we own. I'm not sure if it really matters, but I thought I would just let them flow.... 1. Love the sensation in the morning when I get into the car in the morning and press the start button, but nothing really happens. It just turns on. 2. The fuel mileage is just remarkable, but no matter what I try, my wife seems to be able to squeeze just a touch more out than me! I find that really annoying. 3. The kids love the dash and try and see how far we can get in the EV mode. 4. My son is really into the idea of using less fuel. He's a pretty darn good kid and gets the need to conserve, and this just shows him his parents are trying as well. 5. When I've driven my friends in the car, they never fail to comment on how quiet it is. 6. I run into some weird rattles which annoy me. But that's just me. 7. I'd love to know what each one of those whirring noises is, either when I start the car, turn it off, or am just sitting in it. 8. I look at other cars differently now... thinking how much fuel they use. 9. I still carpool. 10. There are times when I almost feel smug, and I don't want to be a pompous nice person, but it's tough to not feel a touch elevated over the technology you have under you. 11. I think the display is a little blurry at night when on full brightness. 12. Debating weather to sell my 2009 Fit, just to get another Prius. 13. Not sure why other manufactures don't use/license this tech from Toyota. 14. Annoyed at how much the SKS keys cost. 15. I like the double glove box setup. 16. Debating about getting a roof rack for it, but hesitating because I don't want to mess up the co-efficient of drag on the sucker. 17. Thinking of selling the Fit to get another Prius... oh wait... I said that. 18. It should come equipped with better mud flaps. 19. The wheel covers are kind of lame. 20. To sum it up, I really like the car. A LOT. Ken
Ken I believe your comments will resonate with many owners. The car just works well on many levels. Comfortable and efficient - I like the car a lot too.
You've tapped into the collective stream of consciousness, ummmmmmm 1) Don't put display brightness knob on full, roll it just below. 2) Ah well, they're just wheelcovers. Many base models have plastic wheelcovers over ugly black steel wheels. At least ours are painted alloy. 3) get a little rubber cover from Toyota for the keyfob, in case you drop it. 4) It's advanced technology car. You know what it does. Most others don't have a clue yet.
Agree with #10. Kinda fun to be ahead of the curve. Amazing how little most people know about this technology.
13. Heard that Ford licensed Toyota's tech from the 2nd gen Prius in making Escape hybrid. Also been told Toyota, apparently, has not licensed the 3rd gen Prius technology.
I had a 2005 Pri and now my daughter is driving it @179,999 miles on it. I recently bought a 2011 and have about 3k miles on it. I was recently asked (when I was braging about my 10.1 MPG) why I bought the same modle of car a second time. I hadn't really thought about it until I was asked. My answer was I really liked the first one and often wished I hadn't given it to m y daughter. I guess the long and short of it is that I liked the first one so much that I had to have another one. I like this one even more than the old one.
Had to laugh at your "thinking of selling the Fit for another Prius". We traded in our 2007 Honda Fit for a Prius, it's a world of difference, isn't it? It might not be cost-effective to trade in your 2009, but I can see why you would want to. We've only had our Prius for about 3 months, but I'm still in love with it, even more than the Fit, which I really liked while we had it, and until I test drove a Prius.
