Well last year my customers prius has 481,000 around Thanksgiving time. Now we are just before Christmas and he has hit 600k. That's a lot of seat time. http://
Probably the damn HCAC. That's an impressive result. What are the highlights of the repairs and regular maintenance that got it that far?
sure the top-right-side light element on the far left zero just isn't burned out and looks like a 6. LOL j/k!!!
Oil changes every 6.000 miles. Regular oil, not synthetic. Last year @ thanksgiving the transmission went out ( the windings inside). So since we had to replace that customer said get motor, trans, and steering rack from same car. I think he is on his 3rd battery ( 3 total ). The CEL is on because of the catalytic converter. It doesn't like to keep cats happy. He buys them online, so they are not from Toyota.
thats great. my cell is also on for the cat, I think there is a sensor beyond the cat, if so I'm going to modify it, as to get it (sensor probe) out of the pipe.
is it worth all this, or would a trade in have been cheaper in the long run? is this what people mean when they say 'my volvo has 300,000 miles on it'? all you need is the ashtray from the original car to call it the original car?
119,000 miles/12.5 months = 9520 miles month assuming 6 days of driving/week, that's 370 miles/day. Is he a courier?
The post starts out with: Well last year my customers prius has 481,000 around Thanksgiving time. 481,000 ain't too shabby.
I showed this thread to my wife, who would drive her 2001 for the rest of her life if she could. She was encouraged.
if he is it has to be in rural area. Taxi cab drivers log ~200mi a day, and the kid delivering pizza/newspapers was turning 60K a year or 165mi a day. The only guy I knew who was logging ~100K a year on his minivan had a musical instrument repair business.
Sorry I have been busy last couple days. He is on his 3rd main battery. He is a courier in the Phx area. drives all over the Phx metro area and works 5 days a week. Was it worth it???? Sure it was, I got all the parts from the junkyard for a bout $1700. Installed I think the total ticket was about $3,000. He likes the carand it has never left him. Of course he has a great Mechanic. Even if he did "trade it in" what would they give him for it? NOT MUCH. This way he at least know what has been done or needs to be done. If he got another used car, it might not hold up to his driving, and might need a new motor. Plus no payment and uses it for his job is like money in the bank.
well, they don't last forever. plus, your talking gen I. if i had a mechanic like tuffnutz, i might keep mine too!
