I've been spending some time on jeepforum.com (doing work on my old Jeep TJ). I couldn't help but laugh at the different flavor of the posts. The typical PriusChat post has a title like this: Help! My mileage has dropped to only 43. While on JeepForum you get this: Snapped my drive shaft in half. You gotta love the difference. On the other hand, nothing makes a Prius feel more like a luxury car than driving a short wheelbase Jeep. Tom
My old racing forums are the same way. Topics include: "Smoked a Viper on the freeway" Grenaded my engine.. Too much nitrous. " "Which slicks should I get 26" or 28"?" "Stupid Prius tried to race me"
PriusChat is the best overall forum I've ever visited with the smartest and most well-rounded contributors. I would never be able to get such a lengthy technical discussion on 3D TV from any other sports or car forum. People there are typically...well, just dumb. Lol.
Probetalk forums: 3rd gear stripped. Where to source a stronger one. or Ran a 12.x and now I need a new tranny again. Bikeforums: Q: How can I become a pro-tour racer? A: If you have to ask, don't go to Europe.
While here, we can have a perfectly calm and reasonable discussion about whether trannys should have equal rights.
Depending on whether it is a VW Beetle site or a 4wd diesel truck forum that discussion could swing both ways.....
Hey now. I ran a 15.5 with a loose spark plug in cyl #6 and only my clutch is slipping so far. :cheer2:
I have come to appreciate two things, or perhaps attitudes, here at PRIUSchat. The first is the high level of technical competence available to help folks with problems, big or small. Second is an understanding the owning/operating a Prius, or any vehicle for that matter is just a part of a life, and reality just a small part. And vehicle owners think about other things, which here we are free to discuss with friends. All in all, in my mind, PRIUSchat feels, well, in a word, homey -- with cats even:
A lot of people can hit 400 - just not for very long. Dial it up to 1400 watts and then we'll be talking (and racing against Thor Hushovd). Getting signed by a team helps too.
That's just one of the many bikeforums catchphrases, repeated from a famous old thread. google search: site:bikeforums.net "dial it up to 400 watts" They probably confuse new forum readers.
Agreed. ...then there are those who point out the slightest errors in anything and everything...like, did you really mean to say that reality's just a small part of life?
Hyo, thanks for the heads-up. What I posted: "Second is an understanding the owning/operating a Prius, or any vehicle for that matter is just a part of a life, and reality just a small part." What I meant to say: "Second is an understanding that owning/operating a Prius, or any vehicle for that matter is just a part of a life, and in reality just a small part." For lack of the preposition, the intended meaning was lost. I called a meeting of my writing team; Me, Myself, and I, and read them the riot act. If the other two clowns don't get their proofreading act together, there will be hell to pay.
I am supposed to let a small amount of reality into my life? That would spoil all I have done so far.
