Hello. New v Five w/ AT package owner here.
Question: we will be carrying dogs every now then. They will jump into the wagon from the back. I’m concerned about that area getting scratched up...is there a protective skin or other material available?

I saw that link but its for the 2011 model and not the wagon (v) - will that still fit the wagon?

    thanks,

    Hello alanvw,
You can purchase the appropriate Prius v applique through Toyota and I think
    through Priuschat.
I wanted the thicker (usually black) plastic bumper protector that fits over the
edge of the bumper for my Prius v three, and a Toyota salesperson remarked
that the rear of the wagon looked similar to a Matrix. So I looked at a few Matrix, and ordered a rear bumper protector from Toyota (I think it was a
Clearwater, Florida dealer) online, for a 2003-2008 Matrix. I looked like the
2003-2008 Matrix black bumper cover would be a better fit than the bumper
protector sold for the 2009+ Matrix, because the bumper curves up to the sides
quicker. And it fits the edge perfectly, but it doesn't go all the way to the front of the bumper, leaving about an inch of bumper uncovered. Anyway, I'm happy with my initial solution. This bumper protector is about 40 inches wide,
    and three inches deep.
But, after watching a video from Canada Bob; he has a bumper protector,
apparently sold, so far, only in Canada, which looks like it covers more of the
bumper (deeper). I've been searching Toyota parts suppliers in Canada, but
haven't found a supplier yet. Depending on price, when I find the canadian
supplied Toyota product, I will replace my Matrix (looks like it was made for
Prius v) bumper protector. I only paid $34 for the Matrix OEM protector.

ps: I've attached images (if that works), but personally, I would wait to see
    the OEM Toyota product.

Yeah Paradox, that bumper protector "applique" really won't do the job for us.

We put bags of golf clubs into, or pull them out of, the back of our vee all the time and eventually they will drag on the bumper. Also, I like to put my foot on the bumper to tie my golf spikes. The heavy black bumper protector is needed for those kinds of uses. I have them on the 2009s and the bumpers still look like new.

We'll have the bumper protector in stock soon. I was visiting Southeast Toyota last week and they are mass producing one that should be available very soon.

Do you have a picture of your wagon with the Matrix bumper guard?
    Thanks!

Thanks for that! The picture is very helpful. I think we may have to go that way as we move a whole lot of cargo, and it was invaluable on my previous vehicle...which amusingly was an 08 Matrix.

I bought black plastic piece for around $40 from eBay. I also applied clear film on the rear bumper, which came out great ($12 from amazon).

do anyone have instructions on how to apply the factory rear bumper applique for the Prius V? I bought one from the shop here but it says I have to go the dealer for instructions?

Looks like it will need to be installed using soapy water and alcohol...

I bought a 2011 Prius and was dismayed to see there was no protection on the back bumper deck. The Toyota dealer here told me the black bumper protector was no longer available. I went to eBay and there were some there from a Toyota dealer in Alabama? if I remember correctly for $24. Took a chance and ordered one, works just fine. Had to have my oil changed so I took it to dealer and asked them to put it on. Perfect!!!!!!

my deployed hubby just surprised me, and ordered a 2012 Prius V package 5 for me! This replaces my 2006 Prius that was totaled by hail over the summer... I am super exited! If you guys get word on a plastic, black, thick bumper cover for the V, please let me know. Definitely a must have. I don' t think it will be in until February/March was the estimate. Thanks!
