I'm installing a rear-view camera and I need to supply power. A convenient spot appears to be at the antenna. Doesn't it receive 12V when the radio powers up? This should be perfect.
The antenna is powered but it's powered by the radio. Unless you know that there is excess power available at the antenna, it might not be a good idea. The back-up light power circuit has excess power available.
If in fact the antenna is powered, I am sure there would be enough power for the camera... it shouldn't draw very much.
Thank you, but I want a power supply that switches on with the ignition or radio, if possible. That way I can use the camera without being in Reverse, if possible. Plus, being lazy, perhaps the antenna location is easier to get to in this case.
cproaudio might know how to set it up how you want and where to find power. I think he has his set up to be turned on whenever he wants.
You can get power off the rear windscreen wiper motor. Have a look at the cheap ebay camera thread... Post 66 and 89... http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...21-new-camera-install-cheap-ebay-cameras.html
